Hey dudes, everyone always says that monitors aren't supposed to flatter one's mixes at all, so I'm definitely keeping that in mind as I select the pair I like best in anticipation of this upcoming summer's employment. But it occurs to me that I'd also like a set of speakers (2.1 is a must) that do flatter my mixes (and anyone else's mixes for that matter), so what would you guys recommend? My Dad has the Klipsch Promedia 2.1 set that I fucking adore, but as always, I like to be aware of all of my options. Any thoughts?

Klipsch are absolutely wonderful and kind of an anomoly, as they're one of the very few (if not only?) legitimate loudspeaker companies that make speakers designed for computers. Most of the others are made by computer peripheral companies (or Creative Labs) and are pretty horrible.

You could also try a pair of low-end "monitor" speakers, like the Behringer MS20s. I use a pair of these as a sort of "reality check".
