Music lessons

I am meeting my first bass instructor next week and I wondered if the experienced and educated musicians here had any advice as to what to look for from my instructor and what to worry about. Any questions I might be interested in asking etc...

In my experience, if he's not wearing a floppy hat and a khaki vest studded with dozens of lures, he probably doesn't know the first thing about bass.

the only warning sign that comes to mind is to beware of people who seem like they just rather wank more than actually talk or have you play

i took guitar lessons for 3 weeks and then the guy's house flooded out and i never heard from him again. so don't take lessons from people who live in flood plains unless you only want a short commitment.
