Recently got a new ESP with a Floyd and last night at practice I noticed the trem springs resonating a bit causing an annoying feedback through the amp. What do you guys do to dampen or mute the springs? Anything I definitely SHOULD NOT use? It's actually insanely bad. I wonder if it's because of the way I have it set up currently. Left stock .09s on it and dropped it down to Drop C. The ringing wasnt noticeable through the amp just a few days ago, and yesterday it was noticeably worse.

A strip of duct tape cut in half length-wise and taped over the middle of all the springs. If you dont want tape gunk on it you can always put packing peanuts between them and close it up.

I rolled up a piece of napkin and taped it to the inside of the backplate so it slightly presses the springs. Problem seems to be solved. Never had this happen so badly before.

Well, I got rid of the spring noise....

But at practice tonight, noticed a weird high-pitched feedback thing coming on as I chugged the low string. Dropped some gain off the Mark IV, tweaked a bit....seemed better. Then - broken low string, at the (locking) nut.....which rarely (if ever) happened to my last guitar. Strings always broke at the bridge. Leaves me to believe I have a bur or something in the nut.....may need to get it filed. Hoping that was the cause of the problem, since it was really annoying.
