My band's latest track. Fast heavy 7 string malarky

I'm surprised no one didn't mention this.
The kickdrum feels like it's a little bit too loud, overpowering the guitars quite a bit when they "get going really fast".:D
Other then that, yes it sounds very professional! Rock on!
However i guess that can work too (loud bassdrums that is, haha)
:muahaha:

I love the updated mix as well! I think the mix is very tight and balanced. Nice job Matt!

@ reaper1984: I don't think the kick is that loud at all. Maybe it's your speakers or room treatment (if any) that's giving that impression perhaps? If anything, the snare seems SLIGHTLY too loud, but for my tastes, I actually like the snare popping out of the mix like that. But I dont think it's a volume issue... I think the kick is scooped, and both kick/snare boosted in the upper mids to help it pop out of the mix... so it just seems louder. That's the way it sounds to me anyway. I like hearing the crack of a snare and the click of the kick ring out. Sounds good.

Hehe, that's a common comment "it's your room or it's your speakers" but to be honest, a good mix always sounds good, no matter what your listening thru.
If something feels wrong when you hear a mix the first time, something is "wrong". If everything is good balanced the ear don't react, at least that's how i see it..
And to me everything sounded great, until the bassdrums went into the fastpaced stuff, then it sorta blurred the rest of the mix a little, but again it's probably no big deal. Maybe it's too much attenuation in the mastering, that makes it unclear.
Anyways who cares, aslong as the "fans" love it.
Btw, listen to my latest mix, i need some input on that one.
:worship:

I get what you're saying. But there are a lot of professional mixes out there that sound better on better systems, and some that actually sound better on shitty systems. It does make a difference what you're listening on. Especially, since a lot of digital playback programs like itunes or windows media player, etc. and even some car decks will automatically try to adjust the eq levels and eq it for a specific genre like classical, pop, rock, jazz, instrumental, etc. That post-eq shit a lot of players come standard with really does have an impact on how a mix sounds vs. how it's SUPPOSED to sound.

Also, it's not really cool to hijack someone else's thread to bring attention to your own. Not trying to be a dick, just sayin'.

True true, but all systems "colours" the sound to some degree, and if your "used" to certain speakers, you "know" their "colorisation" and how stuff should sound in that system when something is "right". But no matter what, we still have a different opinion on this mix so, we'll just leave it at that.
Yupp, you are right, sorry. But i guess i have myself to blame, everyone clicks my download link and then doesn't listen cause it takes 10seconds extra, instead of 1millisecond to hear it! Hahhaha.:tickled:

I like the playing a lot. I would also get rid of mids in the guitars, and bring up the snare a bit.

Change the ride; it really gives away it's foundry.

The bass could go up as well.

Trusty ol' 10z3 for kick, and 3Az1 for snare.

Thanks Greg, always appreciate your input broseph!
Yeah fuck that ride, I've never really liked it but it's the only one that stands out. Just a shame it's a little *too* bright and pingy, makes it sound artificial as fuck.
