My Dying Bride- Angel and the dark river

I liked the dreadful hours better than the light at the end of the world, which i thought dragged a little in places.

34 is probably my fav album and would recommend although it takes a while to get into

The question was about The Angel And The Dark River!!!

It's a great album. The digi re-release has four songs more: one studio and three live tracks. There are only clean vocals exept on the bonus tracks.

The Angel is an absolutely mandatory metal release.

It's really the 'beautiful' side of MDB. All clean vocals, many tremendous violin solos, etc....and just a great atmosphere.

The tracks "From Darkest Skies", "Cry of Mankind" and "Black Voyage" are eerie, depressing and glorious all at the same time. I'd recommend the digipack as it was remastered.

As I see, MDB has never released a bad album, although some are obviously much stronger than others.

If you only have "Words", I'd recommend that you immediately pick up:
Angel
Turn Loose the Swans (arguably the best metal album ever)

Turn Loose the Swans (arguably the best metal album ever)

Thats a big call. is there a #1 metal album though? even if there is a best of each genre, is the best doom album better than the best black metal album? i dunno if we can say that it is.
