For my styles of music, 2014 was absolutely pathetic.

I can only think of 2 albums that really stood out and they are both amazing.

1. Adamantra - act 2
2. Opeth - pale communion

IMO, not a great year. There were a lot of good releases but not many great relative to other years. I will post my top 10 list in a few weeks. I still have some 2014 releases that I need to listen to. My unofficial favorite so far is My Brother the Wind - Once There Was A Time Before Time And Space Were One

Anima Morte - Upon Darkened Stains

IQ - The Road Of Bones

I am also really enjoying the new Pallas.

I would agree with Magic Mountains comment that 2014 was not a great year. There were plenty of good releases but very few that could be considered exceptional. But there were two that I consider to be outstanding:
IQ: Road of Bones
Anathema: Distant Satellites.
These releases in my opinion represent the crowning achievements of both bands discography's.

Hopefully there will be something new from both in 2015.
