I'm pretty certain I've done this before but I've completely forgotten how... is there a way to schedule/set a time for the pc to shut itself down?

Between 2am and 9am Optus have an "off-peak" download period but the only problem is I leave for work before it finishes, I can't leave it running during the day cause I'm doing massive downloading in that time (and my brother's who are using the same connection would kill me haha)

I can schedule the programs to start with no issues.... but I don't know how to close them again!

Try this, I can't remember if it works.......
- STart > programs > accessories > system tools
- Make sure the task scheduler is running (if you click Advanced, it should list 'stop using task sched'.
- File > New > scheduled task
- Double click it, set the time , blah blah.
- for the RUN box, enter:
SHUTDOWN.EXE -r -f -t 01

That's for XP, it's a diff command ify ou're runnin win98...
