My first impressive haul

Heatwork is great! Do you have Necroticism as well, I think thats probably a bit better personally.

Today I bought:

Sly & the Family Stone - "There's a Riot Goin' On"
Ian Moss - "Six Strings"
Gary Moore & the Midnight Blues Band - "Live at Montreaux" (DVD)

Had every intention of buying "No More Tears" but completely forgot. And wanted to get the Gary Moore Phil Lynott tribute concert DVD but it wasn't there. Shall get it tomorrow.

Doro - Force Majeure
Carcass - Heartwork
Danger Danger - Danger Danger
Danger Danger - Screw It
Dangerous Toys - Dangerous Toys
Bulletboys - Bulletboys
Bon Jovi - Bon Jovi
Jane's Addiction - Nothing's Shocking
Faster Pussycat - Faster Pussycat
Roxus - Nightstreet

Most of them aren't stuff that I listen to very much. Occasionally I will slot one of them into the CD player with a bunch of stuff when I'm at home and have them playing in the background, but it's been a long time since I've "actively" listened to most of them. In fact apart from the Carcass and Roxus albums, I inherited them when I married Xena. The only two out of those I'm reasonably "intimate" with is Bon Jovi and Nothing's Shocking and both of them are great rock albums. Nightstreet is lame IMO.

Everyone seems to think that except for me. I just think it's poorly-produced second rate watered down pop-metal with ridiculous lyrics. "Bad Boys" makes me piss myself laughing and "Jimi G" has got to be one of the gayest songs of all time.

Big haul, I'll comment on the Doro Force Majeure this was her first solo album after the endearing 80's metal classic Triumph& Agony and it is certainly a whiter shade of pale. I couldnt call it metal, it was more rock, the opening track and Hellraiser are the perhaps the highlights of the album.

It's not neccessarily a bad album in terms of merit, musicianship is excellent and it is Doro but I cant have it in my personal collection next to Warlock.

Tell me about this Danger Danger, I know little of these...

Sounds like I need to hear them, I do like glam and sleeze but I'm fickle with the acts I like, it generally needs to come over more metal than rock to my ears. eg I dont like Aerosmith much at all.

Danger Danger are one of the best and most underrated bands of all time and those first 2 albums are GREAT!!!!!!!!

Most people love Screw It more, I like the first one more, but I love em both!! To me, the first one kind is more along the lines of early Bon Jovi, a keyboardy melodic mix of hard rock & arena style AOR.... And the second album has more of a Warrant edge mixed with it - more guitars and less keys, and more gimmicky party style songs too. I think the best 2 songs on Screw It are "Beat The Bullet" and "Don't Blame It On Love"!!! Those 2 are more along the lines of Warrant's melodic rock songs like Mr Rainmaker or Thin Disguise...

My faves on the first album are Under The Gun, Bang Bang, Don't Walk Away, Feels Like Love, Rock America & Boys Will Be Boys!!!

I had so many good piss ups listening to "Screw It"...everytime i put it on it brings back great memories....+ it has Andy Timmons kickin ass all over it....a band i was in used to try and cover Crazy Nites but i couldn't nail the solo so we ditched it.

I had quite a few of the albums on that list but many of them ended up at revoltion cd during my sell everything to buy pot phase in my late teens/early twenties.

Carcass - Heartwork
Alice Cooper - Billion Dollar Babies
Jane's Addiction - Nothing's Shocking

I'll just comment on the ones I've got. Heartwork's brilliant. Alice's work is always great. Jane's Addiction were a brilliant band. There are some great songs on that album. Have you got Ritual De Lo Habitual? Perry Farrell's awesome, as is Dave Navarro.

What are Faster Pussycat like? They're one of those bands I used to see t-shirts of in 1990, but have never heard much of their stuff.

Faster Pussycat are very Sunset Strip glam, and alot more on the raw & trashy rock & roll side of the glam spectrum. Biggest influence I reckon would be early early Aerosmith (first few albums) but with the late 80s Hollywood sleaze soaked street attitude of early Guns N Roses & LA Guns, but much less proficient musically than all of them...

I really really like about 4 or 5 songs on the first album (we have actually recorded a cover of my favourite one "Smash Alley") and love the opening song on the 2nd album and their cool cover of "You're So Vain", but that's about it really. The rest of their songs are a miss for me... They did look unreal around '87 era though!!

Saw them live last year, good show (girls on swings hangin from the roof!) but they sound alot more industrial glam now and Taime didn't look too great!

Funny story - In the early '90s one of their members was arrested for mailing heroin to himself in the post while on tour! Haha.
