yea i heard the EP from the new iced earth cd, definatly not up to par with their old stuff.

the drum and guitar tone are toned down alot, the power from their old recordings just isnt there.

i love ripper and all, i think he did a great job, but ten thousand strong was just boring.

I guess I'll bitch about it here rather than post a new topic...

It just seems like Ripper phoned it in on the vocal performances while trying to match that low regester that Barlow is loved for. Also, the toning down of pretty much the entire thing makes it feel like I'm listening to KoRn perform an Iced Earth cover.

At least we know that Jon can't use the "I don't write albums for vocalists" excuse anymore.

Also, the toning down of pretty much the entire thing makes it feel like I'm listening to KoRn perform an Iced Earth cover.

Strangely enough, my initial reaction was more along the lines of "This sounds like Iced Earth doing an Iced Earth cover." All I could think listening to it was how similar the changes were to those they made on the songs they covered on "Tribute to the Gods", tune everything down, make everything slower, etc.
