My two cents on the Anthrax "Among The Living" lineup "Reunion"

I know a lot of you have heard the rumors about this lineups reunion. What is really strange is that the Anthrax camp neither confirms or denies this. That makes me suspicious that they are negotiating something. But who knows it's just an opinion. What really gets me though is that Scott Ian and Charlie Benante have always been so adamant on how much John Bush was a better choice than Joey Belladonna. Also that Dan Spitz was very hard to deal with and found God and loved making Swiss timepieces more than guitar. Don't get me wrong I love this lineup and WOULD have been very excited to see them but I don't know, something seems very very wrong here. What about John Bush? What about Rob? What about the new bass player from Armored Saint? Anthrax just released the best album in years in "We've Come For You All" and this is what they have to do to continue. Sounds like a cash grab if you ask me and I will have no part of it. If this all turns out to be true one of the last true thrash icons will be nothing more than a Metallica follower.

I hope John and Joey head back to Armored Saint. I know Joey is in Fates. I never really thought John Bush was the right fit for Anthrax and never cared for any album he was on with them. That said I'm VERY excited to see the real Anthrax back together.

Im one of the ones who doesnt give a shit about Anthrax, and seeing Scott Ian's comments about certain bands on VH1 make me not a fan of him nor his music, even before I've heard a friggen song by them.

I thought the same thing at first. I love the older stuff with those guys but I really like Bush in the band. He is great live and I agree "WCFYA" was a great CD after years of bullshit for the band. Then it dawned on me, John Bush just had a kid. Maybe he wants to take a year or two off to raise his child. This works out great for the band and him. Now the Dan Spitz thing is different but who knows, it's all speculation at this point. My 3 cents! :Spin:

Getting the classic lineup back may prevent anymore modern, Biohazardish sounding Anthrax, even the silly pentagram in the logo. Who are they kidding?
Ever since they did Bring the Noise Scott Ian thinks Anthrax needs this whole urban style and it sucks. I bet the fans can care less if they play that song in concert, along with the two other covers Got the Time and Antisocial that they play all the fuckin time. Their set lists are so predictable and stale. I want the old lineup back becuase you know all the fans want to hear is the old shit. The reunion will be more successful and they know it.

Personally, I think Bush is a far superior singer to Belladonna. That said, it really doesn't matter to me if they do reunite the classic line-up. If that is the way they want to go, more power to them. As far as it being a money grab...so what! I work my job to make money not because I get some sort of fulfillment out of it. They know the fans will eat this up and if they make some cash, good for'em.

I don't get some people's notion that a band is wrong for doing something to make some money. We all do things to make money, why then should we hold musicians to a higher standard and think that they should do things only for art's sake. This is their chosen profession and how they make a living. It is a business after all. That is why they sell cd's, sell tickets & sell t-shirts and such. The operative word being sell...not take donations.

Q, I like John bush but if this is true, I get best of both worlds. Who knows, John and Joey vera might go put together another killer armored saint cd?! Plus, John might want to be a dad to his new baby. They might have this all planned as they have said they wanted to do something interesting for their 25th anniversary.

Anyways, I got my ticket for the April 30th Chicago gig and I just might be coming. I might fly in and out of Midway almost like the President when he visits a city. I fly in, see the concert, go back to airport where I get a hour of comfortable airport sleep and fly out on an early 6am flight back.

Scott and charlie are making me mad though with the nonconfirmations.

All I can know is that some parties are still undecided in the matter. That's why nothing has been confirmed or denied. Anthrax and all it's current and former memembers are shooting the shit.
