Nachtmystium out of the tour!!!

im not a big fan of opeth, i got the ticket to see nach, since i really like them
but in the same day high on fire vocals told some guys that they were drunk, fucked the bar up, and refused to pay the damages
*sounds like a metal band*

anyway high on fire, it all sounded the same
however i was really impressed by opeth, a good live band, wouldnt mind seeing them again

cheers

I'm pretty bummed about this whole thing. I've seen Opeth live already and they were very good. I saw HOF a few months back and chatted with Matt and he seemed really cool. HOF isn't groundbreaking but it rocks nonetheless. I don't really give a shit if they aren't as technically proficient as some other bands. I was really looking forward to seeing Nachtmystium and seeing how their studio sound translated to a live setting. Assassins owns most metal albums this year, including Watershed. Quite honestly, if it was just an Opeth show, I wouldn't have bought tickets and booked a hotel for a show 4 hours away.

Both Nachtmystium and High on fire suck, you can't tell the difference between songs, Nacht is just powerchords over and over and over and over again. The lead guy from high on fire has some good solos though, otherwise they suck.

considering matt pike is the only guitarist in high on fire, you're a fucking idiot eos

whats with all the nachtmystium and hof hate ftlog. they're solid bands that contain solid dudes. it'd be like bashing opeth cos "you can't tell the difference between songs."

trust me, ghosts of grace sounds pretty different from a seed for suffering. blessed black wings also sounds pretty different from death is this communion.

It's a matter of volume. I think many bands these days play way too much for the volume. Generally, the louder the music is, the less defined it is, therefore having the potential to sound like a festering shit-pile. I haven't heard much Nachtmystium, only a little bit live on Youtube (which wasn't too impressive). But I walked in when HoF was on stage. No, I don't know their music too well, but I couldn't decipher a fucking thing! I was just waiting for Opeth to get on stage. I have to disagree with "it's like bashing Opeth for not knowing the songs". You can HEAR Opeth, not an ear-splitting constant buzz. I've heard a song or two from HoF (album version) and I liked them, but seeing them in Worcester really didn't make me want to go buy their album. If more bands learned to control their volumes and mixes, they'd get bashed less.

My opinion, of course.

that was kinda my impression of both opening bands that night, it just meshed all together. i feel like an old fart but, it was just noise ><

Fucking nazis.

I'm glad they're off the tour.

didn't know they were nazis either?

the problem with their sound doesn't lie with them, it likes with the technician doing the sound for them.

I'm aware Pike is their only guitarist, I was complementing his guitar playing skills but his vox suck. And you can actually discern different Opeth songs, if pike didn't tell everyone they were going to start a new song, I couldn't have told the difference, that's all I'm saying.

Nachtmystium were once signed to Unholy Records(A Nazi Record label). According to Blake, Nachtmystium only signed to to that label just to get his music out there.

thats what I was implying. I knew about unholy records and that story but I wasnt aware that they're nazis...according to vivoren :p

Taking from Nachtmystium's wikipedia page:

"Nachtmystium's first album was released on Unholy Records, a National Socialist black metal label.[18] In 2006, Judd said that “In the past, we’ve had some indirect ties to labels and bands that are part of the NS scene. At one point not too many years ago, it wasn’t uncommon for NS labels or bands to trade and work with non-politically motivated bands and labels because at the end of the day, we’re all trying to promote, release, and be involved with music—all politics aside. Today it seems like there’s less of a connection, at least for me and my label. We don’t oppose people’s right to be ‘NS’ or whatever—that’s a personal choice, and if you live in the USA, you have the right to that opinion. Even though I personally, my band(s) and my label have absolutely no interest in being a part of that scene, I will ALWAYS take their side when it comes to their freedom of speech being imposed upon.”
