After years of wanting, my drummer gets one on a trade

I played it for 2 seconds with a multiscreamer (which he also got!) on original 808 settings at low volume thru his 80's carvin cab (with some random celestions/eminence pattern) at stupid low volumes on the nicest 540 i've ever played with more string buzz then an 80's strat.

Any tips with this thing? I know it was designed by lee jackson (has the same mid shift as my gp1000)

I'm going to try it with an EQ out front and thru my legacy with 75/85 pattern and a 1960a cab.

It was also modded over to 6l6s (jj's!) and modded to remove those faulty molex connectors from the pre to power board.

Swapping the molex and moving the heaters are the most important. I'm curious how it sounds with the 6L6's, I like the 6550s, they make it sound huge.

cranked it for a bit today. sounds good. I prefer my gp1000 or mp1 over it but it sounds good. I'll maybe keep it for tour backup...

i love my vl1002, i don't use it that often nowadays, but i just can't sell it.
