Having used temporary bass players for years, we have now decided with the recording of the next CD, and a great deal of promotion that will follow it's release, it's time to fill the bass position with a permanent member. We're looking for not only a talented bassist, but a person whose schedule will allow for travel, and the ability to rearrange their personal life for the band, at times. The position requires a certain amount of sacrifice and dedication, with the biggest reward of playing the music you enjoy, and not for financial gain.

The ideal person would be local to the Chicago (or near) area. We're not a band who tours much, so relocating to Chicago, just to join this band would not sit well with us. That's too large a responsibility for us to take on, especially if things didn't work out.

Even of you're not a bassist, but know of someone who is, please pass the information along to them.

Our focus at this time is 100% on writing and recording the new CD, and an immediate bassist is not needed for this. We have the recording situation covered, with more then enough offers to help us in the studio.

I'm really surprised to find out that i was the "temporary" bassist.

Well, unfortunately, even when we've hoped or planned on someone being 'permanent', in the end it turned out to be temporary. It's not always up to us to decide how things turn out. We didn't make that decision, you did.

Not wanting to air our personal or business matters in public, I felt this was the best way to address the situation without pointing fingers, casting blame, or creating slander. You know the position you held with us, and you should know this was said to keep things civil, and not a personal stab.

Good luck to you guys. After years of all the members hard work 'temporary' or not, you definatley deserve to tour more, have acknowledgement for your music on a broader scale. I wish to any people that participated in ND that they have luck with their music careers.

;_; if only I had a bigger amp/cabinet/looked totally metaul like the other members :D

Though joining a metal band is probably a bad move for the "newly graduated college" crowd unless they want to assure starvation, loss of respect from family members, etc :)

I would love to try out for the band.
I have been playing bass for many years, have studio and live experience, etc.
Unfortunately, I do have a full time corporate job, so not sure how it would work depending on how lengthy of tours you guys are planning.

Currently, I only have a bass, no cabinet or head.

If you are looking for someone local (I am in the west burbs) and want to give it a shot, let me know. I would definitely be interested in checking it out and seeing how it goes......

If only I owned a bass, Didnt live in Canada, Didnt have to be on probation, etc.

Anyone remember in the late 80's when Blackie Lawless (WASP) switched from bass to guitar? He said that he switched because you don't need much talent to play a 4-stringed instrument so he switched to a 6-string instrument.

I would go for Jasonic!!! He has a lot of experience with Metallica and Voivod.

Thanks dude!!!!! :)
(I promise NOT to use the Jasonic moniker though......)
I don't think anyone wants a Metallica related lawsuit!!
Though I don't think Lar$ has any rights to the "Jasonic" name, that was all Newsted's creation.
