I need help in finding new music. I've been listening to metal since i was 13, but i guess what most of what i listen isn't what most of you would call true metal.

Bands I like:
Lamb Of God
Arch Enemy(only a few songs)
Killswitch Engage
Avenged Sevenfold(getting too tired of these guys)
Insomnium(could do with more like this but much better :erk:)
Trivium
Metallica
Pantera
Black Sabbath
Kamelot
Nightwish
Battlelore
etc all the mainstream shit.

I'd like stuff similar to lamb of god or insomnium so i guess melo death. I like a few power metal bands but i've never been able to get into any others. I listened to some black metal before like Batharoy and thought it was good but i prefer newer stuff maybe some doom but I'm not too sure, i dont like songs that are too long. I'm not much of a death metal fan as i dont know why people like it i like the growls in it but not the actual music itself some of it is too brutal and fast for me and just sounds like shite. If anyone can help me find some new music i'll be greatful i'm tired of mainstream metal/metalcore shit.

Thanks

There's one fail in the list: there's not much better than Insomnium in the genre these days :p Anyway...

Lamb of God:
Illdisposed - 1800 Vindication.

Insomnium is damn good melodic/melodeath. Other bands to try:
Kalmah
Amorphis (The old albums are more death, later albums more melodic)
In Flames (Same)

Extra semi-similar rec: Evergrey.

Trivium:
Sylosis is similar but better. In reality, you should look into old school "real" thrash.

Some good starting albums would be

Metallica - Ride The Lightning (if you haven't heard this album)
Coroner - Mental Vortex, No More Color
Death Angel - The Ultra Violence
Destruction - Eternal Overkill
Kreator - Pleasure to Kill
Sodom - M16, Agent Orange
Ares Kingdom - Incendiary

Tons more good thrash out there but theres a place to start

Black Sabbath:

Could go heavy metal or doom from here:

Heavy Metal:

Iron Maiden
Iced Earth
Persuader
Kiaus

Doom

Candlemass - Nightfall
The Gates of Slumber - Hymns of Blood and Thunder
Grand Magus - Iron Will

Some band recs to try that don't exactly fit anything you post:

Death/Doom

October Tide
Katatonia
While Heaven Wept

Death/Progressive

In Mourning
Augury

Death/Technical

Gorod
Gory Blister
Necrophagist
Carcariass
Quo Vadis
Death - Symbolic

Old School Death

Dismember - Like an Everflowing Stream
Death - Leprosy
Bolt Thrower - Those Once Loyal
Asphyx - The Rack

There are ton more great bands/albums out there, but this should keep you busy.

Get these albums:

Death - Symbolic, Sound of Perseverance
Kreator - Coma of Souls
Testament - The New Order, Practice What You Preach, The Formation of Damnation
In Flames - Whoracle
Exodus - Tempo Of The Damned
Slayer - South of Heaven, Seasons in the Abyss
Iced Earth - Burnt Offerings
Falconer - Falconer, Among Beggars and Thieves, Northwind

Rec'ing Kiuas based on Black Sabbath? I fail to follow the logic there. Not a bad rec, though.

Death/Doom

October Tide
Katatonia
While Heaven Wept

While Heaven Wept are epic/power doom, and fucking awesome epic/power doom at that.

Not at all.

Just make sure to visit either The Spirit of Ukko or Reformation before New Dark Age or Lustdriven.

MERCENARY

They're probably the most generic yet pleasant metal band in the world and so many people don't know about them. I don't even know what subgenre they are. Vaguely melodeathish with thrash elements maybe.

Edge of Sanity has been one of my favorite bands over recent years. You can't go wrong with anything from them. I guess it depends on a lot of things on which album you prefere over another.
