Need help with mesa recto rig/setup....

I just came up on a Mesa dual Recto and an oversize recto cab on a trade. First off I want to replace the main tubes, which ones should I go for (ie. brand, model# el34's or 6L6?) and does the oversize cab pose more of a low end issue in a a recording sit. than the standard 4x12 cab? Both have v30's right?

I don't know the difference betweem the over sized and the normal cab from personal experience, so I'm not gonna comment on that.
I prefer 6l6's for more "modern" metal though. EL34's sound more "british" to my ears if that makes any sense.

Thanks! Well i mainly asked about the cab because Id look into the trade for a standard if it were too bassy, I know mesa's have plenty of bass/low end without the help of a bigger bassier cab.

Any other thoughts as far as the tubes go? I was thinking the 6L6's aswell but need a kick in the ass to finalize my purchasing thoughts.

Thanks! checking it out now - So far I think I like the spec ratings of the S.E.D. "C" Logo - 6L6GC's. Anybody ever used those particular ones? Hmmmm

Also can I mix and match tubes - Meaning can I use one brand for the power tubes another brand for the preamp tubes and etc....?

Yes, you can mix and match brands, as long as your using a matched quad of the same brand for the powertubes.

My old Single LOVED JJ's in the poweramp, but didn't take well to the EH's I tried.

The Winged C's are also very good tubes, it's really personal preference.
