Found a really clean slant 4x12 that I am probably going to buy within the next couple of hours. It is the older style with the overhang. My question is: Would the non-overhang type cabinet be preferred for recording purposes? Seems to me like the overhang could cause problems with reflections if I wanted to mic one of the upper speakers. Maybe I'm just nit picking. Let me know what you guys think. I gotta make a decision on this thing soon. Price is $450 and all the other jackweenies in my area want $600.

The speakers alone (if still in decent shape) are worth damn near $450. I'd buy it. If there are some reflection issues, which I doubt, just cut the damn overhang off, or mod it into a straight cab... that could work.

i am getting one the very same as that one next week - personally i think it looks badass.

First time in the OS mesa cab club for me too so a bit excited!

Like tommy gun says get it for the speakers if nothing else man.

I have the same one. Never experienced any reflections troubles while micing the upper speaker ;) Lase does have the same cab too if my memory serves me well and he has got a bunch of great tones out of it.

Even if it did, you could always just turn it sideways or upside down to record.
