Putting together a new small home studio, and I need a pair of self-powered monitors.

These are the three I've come down to:

Behringer TRUTH B3030A

KRK Rokit Powered 5 Generation 2

KRK Rokit Powered 6 Generation 2

Which set would you recommend most among these three?

KRk Rokit 5's

How are you finding these guru? I'm using Alesis M1 Active MK2's at the moment, but they're way too bass heavy... then again, I'm in an untreated room and its pretty much impossible to treat (apart from pads behind the actual monitors) as I'm in the attic of my folks house, which is like a pyramid!

Considered some new, less bass heavy monitors, or some Audio Technica ATH M50's

You are planning on buying a pair right? :p

I can't offer much help on this one but word of mouth and hearing guys talking on the forum. The KRK RP6s are supposedly better than the RP5s as they have more low end, and the RP8s are supposedly nicer than the RP6s for the same reason... i think. Also heard lots of good things about the Mackie MR5s, well balanced pair of monitors. As far as the Behringers, I tend to stay away from anything marked with the "B" word, but thats just me!

If you dont get all the answers your looking for on here, your best bet is reading lots of reviews, and even googling comparisons ("KRK RP6 vs KRK RP8" etc)

I use to have a pair of those (and still do, will use them in the lounge room eventually).
I upgraded to these:

Yamaha HS80.

Definitely more detail in the mid range and spacial information IMO. Less cluttered in the lows and not as plastic in the top end.

I am finding my KRK's to be a perfect fit for my small mixing room. While the lows could use some work it just took a few weeks of mixing on them and referencing more familiar systems to see how they work.

I say this is true of any monitor really. They all just take time to get used to.

I love my KRK's and will not be changing any time in the forseeable future.

After reading more information on these, and considering my space limitations, I'm choosing between these two here:

Behringer TRUTH B3030A

KRK Rokit Powered 6 Generation 2

Do note that the mentioned price is for 1 speaker. You need two. I would still suggest that you consider these:

+1. Any particular reason you are considering a pair of Behringer's and ignoring the similarily priced HS50's, which actually are OK monitors? It really doesn't matter to me what pair you choose, but you did ask for help.

Due to some of the problems with my studio room, I really need forward facing bass ports more than others might.

doesn't matter what you get. all of the monitors in this price range are toys, but they're better than what you're using now. the monitors don't make your mixes better, they just reproduce the mixes accurately. every single set of monitors on the planet has a learning curve, and i think that's what the bigger price tag usually means: smaller learning curve.

dude, seriously get some KRK rokits for like $200 via craigslist. I tracked a band and got them as payment like 6 years ago and they have been going strong. yeah they are only 5's so it's hard to tell what the fuck is going on in the low end, but they are cheap and seem to translate really well for me.
