Need some help with Tone Gen/Noise Gate

Hey guys, I am in the process of working on my bands EP and ive taken on the role of mixing and producing. I have fairly good experience and i have come across a neat trick that i would absolutely love to use.

Its a small trick that involves using a tone generator and noise gate sidechain to beef up weak sounding drums. I've used several different noise gate plugins but none can seem to do the right trick. I need a gate plugin that will allow me to redirect the gate to another input.

Or maybe I am just doing the side chaining and sends incorrectly.

P.S. I use Studio One and I have a vast collection of plugins but my gate collection seems to be lacking.

This is along the lines of what im trying to achieve. However my only problem is no matter what gate plugin i use, none of them offer the key input that this one and all others seem to offer.

Simple solution.

If you want a kick with massive low end that is SUPER EASY to mix.

Trigger your kicks with the Brian Kick.

Wow! That worked great! Thanks for posting the link to that article. I used a Waves C1 Gate/Expander and it works perfectly. FYI, I'm in Protools 9.
