New album: Work has begun already....!!!!.....

I'm all for great bands releasing new albums. I just hope this great band can release something less commercial and, frankly boring, as GR.
Get back to basics, bin the shitty parping keyboards, and give the fans of the older stuff something not trendy. Like the 45 minute black metal song once talked about, that'd be nice.

Congratulations, you're the exact kind of fan no band wants to have.

i'd rather hear people voice their opinions, as wrong as they are, than have thousands of fanboys praise the music without giving it proper thought

fair enough. GR is a good and respectable album, which is far from sounding mainstream. keyboards definitly need working on and some more old school mayh and SL flavours would be nice, but that wont happen. im sure whatever they come up with will be something new and fresh.

I'd like to hear some lower frequencies....like some shit that goes down into the 20 to 30 Hz range or lower..this might augment their sound some...they're great songwritter's but but I'd like my sub to be given a little bit more of a workout whilst listen to Opeth....Listening to GR in DTS seem like a pretty good mix, but it seems a little trebbly and could have had even more low end ballz to really give it some effect esp wrt to the percussion...most of us have some form of subwoofer that can add a lot of impact to the sound...i've heard my sub on movies and other music and Opeth is not tapping into it's full potential as a means to impact the listener to the full extreme.

Lmfao. Congratulations, you have no fucking idea what you're talking about.

In fact a lot of people here have no idea what they're talking about.

more drama, more tension creating sections leading up to killer solos backed up by hard beating death metal percussion and bass/rythm guitar.

Oh, and another dvd. Thats what IM looking forward too.

Do you think they will use standar tuning again or they'll stay in an open tuning. I was reading the diary of the GR recording on the official site and mike said that it was hard to write in open tuning but they found some cool licks. What would you prefer???

I honestly want them to be back in E standar but it's just a small detail.

That's absolutely fucking ridiculous to be biased or have a preference of guitar tuning a particular artist uses.

I'm not saying that I'Ve a preferance but if it is easier, it's up to them. I think that they tune the low E string to D because mike's voice is now getting a bit tired. He said on the GR DVD that is not able to do a high pitch scream anymore. At least is not able to do it they way he use to so when they drop to D it's easier for mike to Growl.

its not that ridiculous... maybe said artist writes better in a certain tuning? i dont really have a preference but if an artist tried open and standard and wrote shit for one of them, id certainly want them writing in the other one.
