New Amaranthe Single "The Nexus"

23 posts and not a single person mentioning Elize in a white bodysock with black boots?
She can slit my throat anytime!
:saint:

I think this video will appeal to the FPS geeks who like Call of Duty and other games of the genre.
The song sounds pretty good, pretty much like their other stuff...poppy and fast. I am betting this album sells big (in our universe).

You think originality is childish?

How boring and sad it would be if no one did anything creative with music videos.

originality? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess that this fellow doesn't agree with you.

I disagree... I think the harsh vocalist adds some interesting counterpoint to the band's sound. I didn't think the song was particularly great though. The main riff sounded a lot like some of the songs on their 1st album, and the chorus didn't grab me. I'll probably still check out the album eventually though.

Is anyone else annoyed by this growler? I think he should be sacked and sent to deathmetal land. The song is very cool.

I love the growler. It's the other dude that annoys me. Sounds like a boy band singer.

That being said, I love this band. Best new band in ages. I still can't get the debut out of rotation.

That's funny cause I hate the growler and love the boyband singer's voice. I think he should sing the whole album on his own. The counterpoint of the growl just sounds completely rubbish to my ears. Don't get me wrong though I don't hate growls. I like death metal after all. I just hate growls mixed with clean if it's done too much like in Amaranthe. Completely turns me off and I cannot see the appeal at all.

I think both male singers are the weak link in this band honestly. Also Andreas the screaming singer is in a deathmetal-ish band called Within Y if you're interested in that sort of stuff. I'm not really a fan of his screaming style.

Well, starting strictly from the standpoint of the song itself, I'm really relieved. It's very, very difficult for a band who has put out a debut like that to follow it up without somehow fucking up what made the first album so exciting. On the first couple of listens, I'd say it's a good song, and if the rest of the album sounds like more of the same, color me satisfied. It would be a little disappointing if they stayed exactly the same on albums 3 and 4 and never progressed, but this is only a sophomore album, and I think there's no harm in sticking with what worked so well on their debut while they're still pretty fresh on the scene. Reinvention can wait.

As for the video, I say, so what? Yeah, it's a little corny, but come on, this is heavy metal we're talking about. Our choices for videos as metalheads are "the band playing somewhere" or "something corny". When I see the video, I just see the record company saying "We like this and are investing money in it". Cool! Give Amaranthe some love!

That's funny, because honestly I've never really thought Elzie was anything special, either. As for the song, it sounds like almost everything on Hunger.

I like Elize's vocals a lot, but that's because she has a musical theater style voice. But then, she did start out in the theater. And I'm a huge fan of musical theater actors/actresses fronting metal bands.

Sigh. There's three singers and they give the band it's unique sound. Take any one of them away and it's not really different. Take away the growler and it might as well be Oratory. Take away the boy band singer and it's like any other beauty and the beast band. And he's not a boy band singer, he's a power metal god.:)

The music is designed to appeal to a wide audience and it works like a charm.

Jake compared to boy bands? Say what? The dude has killer pipes, and is in one of the most under rated power metal bands ever!

Well said.

Bottom line: they're still one of the "hottest" bands in the scene.

Hunger was one of the best selling debuts in Spinefarm history. Their Euro tour with Stratovarius is a co-headline tour (yes, already at that level). Their US booking agent in North America is the same agent of artists such as Metallica, Meshuggah, Billy Joel, Linkin Park, Volbeat, Rush, Stone Temple Pilots. Rumor is that they'll be on a very popular tour package in the country in the second semester.

Like it or not, Amaranthe is not going away anytime soon. And their music is executed flawlessly. It breaks the typical boundaries of metal, which, let's be fair... is exactly what metal needs.
