New Anthrax;.........Low U.S. Sales

I wish they'd just say fuck it and get Dimebag to join the damn band already.
Well in a way they do have him in the band, they have "Dimebag Ian" , he has the pink beard, Randall Amps and Dean Guitars. His solos and riffs even sound "influenced" by his daddy, Dimebag Darryl

I felt the same way about that comment from him. I mean what a dumbass to insult the entire American population. If a record is good , people will buy it , case closed.

~Metallica's St. Anger recently went double platinum,... what was your point again?

~Let's face facts here, everyone who is bashing Anthrax either doesn't like John Bush, doesn't like the "new" sound, (which in truth isn't that far a departure from their old sound except better) or more likely is just a bandwagon shit talker who has at most only heard samples of new Thrax and think's they're being "diehard metal" by knocking them down.

~Oh yeah I'm a fanboy, well glad you jumped on the trend of identifing them for us. Otherwise we'd never know how to think for ourselves now would we? Honestly I was about to give up on the band myself, I was disappointed with Sound of White Noise and Stomp I thought was worse than State of Euphoria. But the new album changed my mind because it is that fucking good! To clarify the single Safe Home is probably one of the worst songs on the album, and it really isn't all that bad.

~Sure Charlie could've been more tactful in response to their album sales, but that's not Anthrax to tap-dance around the subject. I think Americans in general deserve to be called stupid for buying the latest pop, hip-hop and mall-core garbage rather than giving some good metal bands a chance. So maybe they're viewed as the middle child of music right now, (not coheasively heavy enough for the sincere metal crowd, not alternative enough for top-ten status) maybe they're just seen as an old band... but they are deserving of a gold album for this one.

~Of course deserving doesn't mean shit in the US music industry, which is why he is allowed to bad-mouth America. It is a freedom that it's citizen's are allowed. In fact I should say that it is more unamerican to blindly follow the rules of this cuntry without questioning them, than to question everything and speak your mind. As an US citizen that is your right to do so, ignoring that right is akin to abiding to archaic communist idealism.

~And as for Anthrax sounding like Pantera, that cannot be. For one thing Anthrax doesn't suck! For another Anthrax never try to hide their past or sue anyone for playing their old albums. Scott trying to look like Dime? Scott's bald idiot! And as for his playing Scott doesn't play solos, harmonies maybe. And maybe the reason that the solos sound so much like Dime's may just might be that they ARE his and their former studio guitarist thought Dimebag was his hero.

~Charlie writes most of the music anyway. And before you jump to any ridiculous conclusions remember that Charlie wrote Spreading the Disease, Among the Living and every album after that. We've Come For You All is a perfect example of how to write and record an album as good as if not better than Spreading the Disease after 18 years of raging. If you don't think so fine, but at least digest the whole album before advertising your ignorance. Hear the whole album, tell me it's bad, then I'll back down.

I was talking about Anthrax , so the real question is why you would bring up Metallica. Metallica actually has a continuing fanbase unlike Anthrax where they're successfuly driving away older fans and it keeps diminishing record after record. That's why they are selling fewer and fewer records.

I do love the old Anthrax and still do. Actually John Bush does nothing for me in Anthrax, Armored Saint, yes. So there is your answer from me.

I have the album and I'm glad I downloaded it! Saved me $15!

So is Charlie handing out "Hate American" awards to his fan boys too? Not all of us go and buy pop or hip hop , so it's a small percentage of Americans that can be called "stupid" in my opinion. You're being small minded and generalizing. You can like a band and not have to get so emotionaly involved where you bash an entire country for the very thing you like to speak of , free speach , and choice to listen to what we want. So practice what you preach.

Pantera paved the way for the resurgence in what Anthrax does. They were drinking 40's with Public Enemy when PANTERA was touring playing the most brutal music at that time, ask Scott Ian , he seems to idolized Dimebag to the T nowadays. Aside from being bald, everything else might as well be Dimebag Jr. Do you think calling me an idiot will emphasize your point? It's just shows how you lack compentent skills to debate a topic you obviously feel so strongly about. I'm surprised Scott Ian doesn't have a "Cowboys from Hell" tattoo on his neck.

Yeah, it's pretty obvious Diamond Darryl is his hero. :D

I think Charlie is a great icon in Metal and has written LOTS of killer music so I don't see why you've got the big pile of kleenex next to you. I was simply voicing my opinion on the new anthrax like the rest of the people and I will say what I like. I have the WHOLE album , listened to it SEVERAL times and I'm not that into it. I didn't say it was horrible, I just don't dig it. I still actually really like Anthrax, their older stuff. So yeah dude, you might want to back down cause I think you are taking this WAY too personal. The actual
ignorance you speak of was by the band themselves blaming downloading and "stupid Americans" as the cause of their diminishing fanbase and money they put in their pocket.

I'm not ignorant...I just DON'T LIKE ANTHRAX WITH JOHN BUSH..HE DOESN'T FIT. I wanted to like them with him..I tried..I just can't get into it.

AND...

What HL said!

So there!:p

I sit here reading all of everyone's posts regarding ANTHRAX and it seems to me EVERYONE has a opinion about this subject. It is true all Sales are low because downloading is the NEW THING..... Charlie has the freedom of speech to say WHAT EVER he wants..... THE BILL OF RIGHTS ever read them???? Oh i guess not.... Joey was the shit while he was in the band. Oh well get over it. Johnny the dude now. I have been a fan since 1987 and still am. If you dont like it dont buy it. I have it and paid cash........ so go ahead and say what you will about ANTHRAX but remember look how many people have posted on this subject. It seem's they are on a lot of peoples minds and come on dirt i saw you at the House of Blues and you were having a KILLER TIME..............o_O

DO you wanna know why I like ANthrax, probably not, but...They have been so damn consistent for so many fucking years, not too many American bands have been around for even a fraction of the time they have. They are OLD, and still rule.

He (Akomujo) brought up Metallica to point out that Charlie was right, Metallica is the worst band out there with the Heavy Metal monicker atttached to them and they went double or whatever platinum, that shows me a herd mentality for a lot of Americans. Anthrax album is vastly superior to that piece of fucking shit, yet people still like it(ST Anger), it fucking boggles my mind. AnthraX has great and loyal fans, I personally like all of their albums and own them all. How any "metal" fan can listen to St Anger and not WCFYA, i cannot understand, oh yeah, the majority of $tallicas fans don't even know they have albums before the black album, gee golly you guys, that is what he was pointing out.(Akomujo)

Why are you people freaking out about the fact that some of us don't get into the new Anthrax sound? It's not that big of a fuckin deal...tastes vary..it's a fact of life..I didn't buy the new Metallica OR the new Anthrax..for similar reasons...although I don't believe that the new Anthrax isn't nearly the piece of SHIT that St Anus is it still doesn't intrest me AT ALL.

On a side note....I still love Frank Bello:D HHHHOOOOOOTTTTT!!!!!!

Ahhh, I guess there is no accounting for taste. :D Like I said Anthrax have very loyal fans, I am one of them, so be a soulja and play basketball, what, am I actually writting something here or just going for another post, I don't know.

Mmmmmkaaayyy...guess I didn't get the memo on that THRAXXXXXXX. I guess I'll go ahead and read it and get back to ya....:Smug:

Anthrax was one of first bands I`ve learned back in 1990. I`ve been a fan of their music - old tunes an new ones as well. I`ve noticed that I prefer Anthrax musically with Joey and "vocally" with John. I find so much details in old material and albums with Bush, too.
I dont judge bands by their sellings or stuff like that but it`s a fact that this is not the first time Charlie`s bullshitting. First one was when they denied Danny Lilker as a co-founder of the band while shooting this film for VH1.

~That's great, just don't expect places you download from to be around forever. Plus $15?! Where do you live Hollywood? Tokyo? Who in their right mind would pay so much for a CD when there are so many places online that sell for cheaper?

Think whatever you like , it's a free country.

~And what country would that be? Message board country? Oh wait,... here's the part where you contradict this statement.

So is Charlie handing out "Hate American" awards to his fan boys too? Not all of us go and buy pop or hip hop , so it's a small percentage of Americans that can be called "stupid" in my opinion.

~How quick you are with that fanboy title. Are you a Testament fanboy? Nothing wrong with that, Testament is a killer band. As for the second portion of that, "small percentage"? How does a cunty whore like J-Lo become a multi-millionaire with a "small perentage" of stupid people buying into her image? It certainly isn't because of her shoddy acting skills or her decidedly safe musical choice.

You're being small minded and generalizing. You can like a band and not have to get so emotionaly involved where you bash an entire country for the very thing you like to speak of , free speach , and choice to listen to what we want. So practice what you preach.

~No see, the idea of free speech is that one is free to say whatever they wish, (provided that it isn't about killing the president or a threat of terror at an airline security gate or... saying bad words in public. How consistant we Americans are?) I'm not preaching, I'm arguing. Difference.

Pantera paved the way for the resurgence in what Anthrax does. They were drinking 40's with Public Enemy when PANTERA was touring playing the most brutal music at that time,

~I suppose it would insult you to know that Public Enemy are a more relevant and important addition to music than Pantera could ever be. A rap group who's music served as a in your face reminder that racism is still around still everywhere and still ugly, means alot more to people than a glam band turn Exhorder rip-off posing that they've always been "hard". Guess which one doesn't impress me in the least?

ask Scott Ian , he seems to idolized Dimebag to the T nowadays. Aside from being bald, everything else might as well be Dimebag Jr.

~I will ask him.

Do you think calling me an idiot will emphasize your point? It's just shows how you lack compentent skills to debate a topic you obviously feel so strongly about. I'm surprised Scott Ian doesn't have a "Cowboys from Hell" tattoo on his neck.

~No, in fact if anything it made you ignore anything I said altogether. Someone is lacking competant debating skills and it isn't whom you think. And why wouldn't anyone have a Cowboy's tattoo, it was the only haf-way decent album they ever wrote.

Yeah, it's pretty obvious Diamond Darryl is his hero. :D

~I was referring to Paul Crook actually. If you don't know who he is, it doesn't matter you didn't listen to begin with why would you now?

I think Charlie is a great icon in Metal and has written LOTS of killer music so I don't see why you've got the big pile of kleenex next to you.

~I was incorrect to use you as a scapegoat, but none-the-less I can't illustrate my mood with typed words. I shouldn't have to, but I realise my regular tone might seem hostile to those who are more insecure and less openminded than I am.

~Anthrax have their thing, they do indeed feel like they are owed something. But as we stupid Americans are quick to point out hard work doesn't equal more rewards, and for a country that strived for perfection we have a long fucking way to go before we deserve not to be hated by it's own citizens and many other countries. Sure as fucking hell I feel ashamed to be American when a great band like Iced Earth is greeted in Greece with a Beatles like mania, playing in front of thousands of people and then to have to come home to America and have to play in shitty little clubs to ungrateful fans.

Everything I wanted to say and more, friend. Thank you.

Ahh, America the beautifal, the home of hypocrisy in all of it's tiny little forms, and in this mealstrom of inarticulate apathy and unconcious herd mentality, the people with differences and who aren't afriad to point them out and revel in them get the backhand of reality right across the face, that reality is not what they thought, but what someone else thought for them. Again I thank you.

This is exactly what I think of Pantera..they blatantly ripped off Exhorder. I remember reading an interview with Exhorder way back when in Metal Maniacs and they said Phil used to come to all their gigs all glammed out and getting the shit beat out of him in the pit. He also hung out after the show and talked to them about their music. Then all of a sudden they saw a video on Headbangers that sounded an awful lot like them...vocals and all!
