DARK INFINITE
Bastard John of God
What's wrong with mathcore? A single (but effective) word...rather than saying "original technical 'death' (they're not death metal at all btw) metal, with odd time signatures and complex polyrhythms". It's not that hard to figure it out:Flal said:Why is it square? I hate all these subdivisions. Why does it have to be placed in a sub genre? Sure it's original.....original metal, leave it at that. Soon we're going to have derivative-of-the-limit-of-the-square-root-of-the-fifth-interval-harmonized-second core with a little hint of physicscore. It's getting rediculous. If anything just call it tech. death.
math (coming from the complexity of math rock) + core (coming from the metallic edge found on metalcore) = MATHCORE (or MAYBE Math metal in this case).
I have no problem in using these subdivisions. I've heard some bands who combine more than two (even more) genres, so when I talk about them it's something like:
Kayo Dot: avant-garde/doom/post-rock
I use them to be more specific. I could say Karaboudjan is original metal...am I being specific? Nope. Some guy who says Bloodbath is "original metal" is being specific? Nope.
In my opinion, subdivisions only get ridiculous when they come out from lyrical themes: troll metal, porno metal, etc.
But oh well...to each his own!
