New Avenged Sevenfold Video

Not bad, dig the drum sound... I guess having portnoy on the record did have an influence on the mix engineer to push the durms a little forward.

Btw, who mixed this ?

Oh, and Is it me or are these guys really inspired by danny elfman ? All the melodic lines in their songs are very elfman'ish to my ears.

Yeah I hear an influence definitely. The beginning of this song reminds me of nightmare on elm street , they probably did that on purpose

I dunno the last album they produced themselves and you can see that there was a lot of shit that should've been changed or cut completely , but wasn't. I'm thinking mostly of "A Little Piece of Heaven" , basically just a really really bad Nightmare before Christmas ripoff , did not fit on there at all. Also the mix was kinda shitty to me.

Fuck that, that was the best song on there.

And I can notice some fanboyism by JayB on this thread.

OH SHIT. LIKING A BAND. NEVER.

Almost easy was my fave on that disc

same here, but it's the only song that I really liked.
city of evil was so awesome...dunno why they always step up the faggortry on every album...at least they'll get laid by a lot of chicks that way

I just noticed that the guitars could use moar gain at some parts :/

Thanks for sharing ! I see what you did there , throwing "faggot" into a bands name :worship:
Care to talk about the mix like I asked?

Bit hard to judge the mix when I can't even get past the part where the vocals first kick in because the song sucks so fucking much.

Ok, I am gonna make a constructive criticism. The singer is irritating, their music is full of cliches, it´s predictable and boring and most of their choruses like this song in the video are really lame and emo. Almost makes me want to cut my wrists.

I really don't care or anything and I am not trying to defend this band , but I just don't understand why you bother even opening the thread if you are just gonna listen for 3 seconds and call them faggots.

I love the drum tones. Really powerful, punchy and thick. Fuck yeas. The rhythm guitar tone pleases me, too. Too bad I absolutely hate the song and the vocalist. Eww.

I love the drums and guitars too. It's funny , I have their last CD and I just looked at the back to see who mixed it , and it was Andy Wallace , same dude who mixed this one. And this one sounds SO much better to me... maybe this time the tracks were just recorded better. I guess Mike Elizondo had an effect on the record's sound

and better quality version for Spotify users: http://open.spotify.com/album/6GLns6AVAQfVhyx3oOYsAP

edit: That sounds like a really twisted mix between Nickelback and Metallica. And the singing is just really awful. And I can notice some fanboyism by JayB on this thread.
Yeah seriously , I'm not trying to be a fanboy , just stating that I like the songs on this CD so far , and yeah when people come into a thread knowing what it's about and proceed to just say it's gay , without even mentioning what the post is about , the mix , it is kind of annoying

Waking the Fallen was by far my favorite. I really only liked Beast and the Harlot / the solo in Bat Country on COE

I loved Waking the Fallen... one of the first metal bands I liked as a kid.

City of evil was also great... missed the screams but at least they had interesting song structures and cool vocal and guitar harmonies. Love the songs "Burn it Down" and "Trashed and Scattered" still and I went apeshit for the calypso acoustic solos at the end of "Sidewinder". I thought they were moving in a good direction...

Then, hated the last album. "Piece of Heaven" was entertaining... but the rest had nothing that really grabbed me... simple structures, simple choruses, simple playing. It just sounded lazy...

Now hearing these songs I just feel embarrassed for them. Were they fucking sleeping when they wrote this predictable tripe? At least they could write an original fucking song before.

Sorry for the cheesedness... I guess I just had high hopes for these guys and they just proved all the haters right...

I respect those who enjoy it though!
