New Born of Osiris streaming on Facebook

Some really cool riffs on this but as everyone says, the production lets it down. Not sure what alot of the keyboard/ambient sections between songs are meant to achieve, really cheesy.

Who cares that the production sucks, the music isn't even fucking good.
Just reminds me of modern day Dream Theater style song writing "HEY LET'S PIECE TOGETHER STUFF THAT DOESN'T EVEN REMOTELY FLOW WELL AND SOUND COHERENT".
I suppose it will appeal to the kids that love that "be as 'prog' as possible at the expense of song writing" aspect, so it's going to sell, but I sure as hell wont be buying it.

Agreed!

The very last lead riff tone sounds alright. Rest of the guitars is pretty blah. That first keys patch... What was that? That was just embarrassing to listen to.

From what's left of their stuff on Facebook, I fucking dig the lead guitarwork on Recreate. Everything else is pretty meh.

Actually liked the songwriting, disliked the mix (although less than I thought I would based on the demo that wasn't Misha's). Still wishing for more memorable songs, but yeah.

Meh, tried to like it.. but it just did not gell well with me.
Weird synth patches (and not in the good way), weird mix, some good ideas but no real hooks.

Also everytime I listen to it I think back on the studio topic where the guy tracking it was telling how everything was tracket to tape and analog as fuck (and dissing brianhood while speaking of his old school ways).
And still this just sounds stale and sterile.

Haha, obviously the AxeFX and possibly loads of programmed drums/stuff are exactly what we call analog

For what it's worth, the mix sounded crystal clear to me, but shitty and sterile and harsh.

And Harry, don't be lumpin' Dream Theater in with Born of Osiris. They can at least write songs

Don't hate, appreciate.

I agree the mix isn't spectacular, but it's at least on par with their older albums, if not better. I think it actually sounds a bit better.... but, still, it definitely could be better.

I'm not understanding the hate for the songs though. Some of the songs on this album are better than anything they've ever written. Songs like Recreate, Devastate, and Behold are awesome, IMO.

As I said, MODERN DAY Dream Theater ;)
I love a lot of their 90s stuff, but can't really bring myself to listen to most of their post-2000 stuff anymore

I listened to this album over and over while on a 4 hour drive to vegas. Its decent as far as quality goes, its not that great, poor midrange. I do like the "space feel" of the album i really like that atmospheric feel on albums. Album art is great. Only two songs i really enjoy are "RECREATE" "AUTOMATIC MOTION". Rest are okay.
