I´ve just spent that fucking 200 bucks and got myself this cab. All can i say is, these V30 speakers are awesome. Only thing i noticed was a resonance at 1K. I automated some eq so you can hear what i mean. Clip starts with zero processing.

My chain: Profire2626 -> ProRMP -> TS9 -> Cobra -> SM57 (Straight center)

Tomorrow i´ll upload some pictures and more clips with different mic placement and jazz.

What do you guys think so far?

Yup they are proper cabs. I actually own one also. It's my fourth Harley Benton V30 cab. One was 4x12 but this one is 2x12. Anyways... I've owned Mesa cabs also and I can't justify the price difference and buy a Mesa cab.

Here's a clip I made with my cab:

Great cabs for the money. Got one here and it regularly gets recorded even though we've a few other cabs to choose from.

I own the 2x12 as well, and I also really like it. Not just "it's okay for the low price", I plain like it. I put it in a vertical position with my favourite speaker on top. Nice for the roomsound and also better for recording imo.

I didn't even buy it with great sonic expectations. I already had an engl pro 4x12 cab, but I didn't want to lug that thing around all the time, so I bought the Benton as an easier alternative for practice sessions with friends. It ended up being a lot more than that for me though. At the very least, it offers a very different flavour than the engl, which is great, because I think the engl has a very typical sound to it, which I'm not always happy about.

The cab does have a spike around 800-1000hz like you mentioned, and I also notch around 4.5khz usually. But to be honest, I do that on any cab, no matter the micposition. Maybe I just don't like that frequency :D

Here´s one more clip. It´s taken from WideK´s thread: http://www.ultimatemetal.com/forum/rate-my-mix-tone-threads/746725-mixing-time-5-circles-multitracks-metal-metalcore-song.html

Well, the price a single V30 speaker is 96€. The Benton cab costs 198€ (In germany). Brand new blank 2x12 cab for 6€ is fucking crazy.

That sounds fucking awesome! Great song as well! Showcases the sound of the cab pretty well too I think.

And yes, the pricing on these things is unreal. This is one of those cases where I don't really care about the quality of the build and the materials used, as long as it does what it is supposed to do and doesn't fall apart. With that said, I do expect the price on these to go up over the next few years.

How Nimvi has mentioned, i think it´s a matter of taste. After playing around it doesn´t bother me at all. It was just a very first "fail" at least to my ears. I don´t think it`s rooted to the cab´s nature.
