Maybe it's not supposed to have a pre chorus or transition. It is what it is. I don't think there is a set formula for writing songs. If there was everything would be a pop song

Yeah man, totally get that, otherwise Meshuggah wouldn't have a career. But this isn't something that flows. You can still switch it up but give it a flow. This has none.

Did anybody think for a second that Emmure wrote the transitions on purpose like this? like we all know there guitar player loves using crazy effects who's to say they didn't come up with it. I used to hate Emmure when i first listen to them all i heard was chug chug chug chug, 000 1 000 1 000 1 000 1 but the more you listen i think they are the only band that knows how to write a song that is all rhythm.

For as long as I live, I don't think I'll ever be able to get past how awkward and forced the "transitions" to all those tempo-change breakdowns feel (and how cliche and boring I find them). It was minimally cool until 1:18

this is a good point. I actually write in production into my music.

but it's still no excuse for 0 transition skills. transitions are usually more important than the riff that follows.
or, in emmure's case, the chugging that follows.

i do the same as well.
agreed transitions are super important i mean anybody can write like 5 cool riffs and throw them one after another. which part exactly are we talking about that has the zero transition? the only part i can think is near the end at 3:08 but i still think it works fine and flows with the song.

@Sptz

What i mean by that is that most of Emmure's riffs are purely chugging open notes or some dissonant variation, and unlike other bands they actual make it catchy at least thats what i think at least i have heard sooooooooo many bands these days just write an entire song of CHUGGGGG CHUG CHUG CHUGGGGGGGGGGG, its so predictable that when ever i go to shows me and my friends guess how the next "breakdown" is gonna go and we nail it every time with out even hearing the song before. my point is they are creative with there breakdowns and chugging or whatever.
