New Fear Factory Anyone?

album's hot garbage. what's the point of hiring gene when you're going to make him play exactly like Herrera?

It's better than Divine Heresy, but that's not saying much.

It's meh. My blog is very sugar coated. I honestly don't give a shit about the album.

If you like Dino era FF, you'd be into it.

heard the one after Obsolete, didnt like it, lost interest in new FF albums. what's left to do after Soul of a New Machine, Demanufacture, and Obsolete anyway?

pretty much.

I wish SYL would get back together :(

even though New Black wasn't fucking with City or Alien, it was still better than 98 percent of everything in metal. They were also good at keeping it varied and different for each album, which FF just cannot do.

I know Devy is putting out a brootal album next, but having gene and the guys has always been an integral part of the sound. The drumming on The New Black is :kickass:

I heard the new FF album when I was in CO in my friend's car. I actually didn't *hate* it, but it wasn't anything interesting either.
I didn't go out of my way to get the album or even download it to give it another listen... FF just don't interest me anymore...
I'd love to see them live though. If they'll come to my area I'll give it another listen 'on stage'.

I saw them a couple weeks ago when they were in San Antonio. They put on a pretty great show, except that Burton had trouble finding notes from about the time they played Linchpin half way through the set onward. Almost every live video I've ever seen of Burton singing was terrible, but he sounded pretty decent overall that night. The new album didn't blow me away, but it's growing on me more. I'm always impressed with the tones that Dino is able to get out of his Line 6 gear.

I don't think his playing on the album sounds especially like Raymond's playing at all. The drumming on the new album is actually pretty good.

Mm. Well, the last FF album I listened to was Digimortal, so I can't say this news knocks me out of my chair... Might give the new album a listen though.

It's all right. You didn't miss anything.

Most people didn't like Digimortal. Even Fear Factory doesn't really like Digimortal, aside from a few songs. They've described the new album as being a cross between Demanufacture and Obsolete, though I'm not sure whether or not I quite agree.

Nope hes rocking the 6505 now. Not the plus just the straight up 6505 with a Tube Screamer up front. At least thats what was on the latest CD. I will get some shots of his rig at the concert Saturday as I am not sure what he is using live.

From an interview about the new album:

What about amplification?

Amp wise, I’m using a Line 6 Vetta II, I’ve been using all Line 6 products since back in the day and the reason I use the Line 6 is that I used to have a Marshall JCM 800, a modified head and it got stolen back in 1998. And the Line 6 is the only thing that comes close to replicating that original tone that I had in my Marshall. The Marshall had 6505 tubes in it which gave it more of a solid state type of tone which I was really into. And I use Mesa Boogie rectifier cabinets with the Line 6. Live, I mainly use the Line 6 with the rectifier cabs.

I think it's supposed to say 6550 tubes, not 6505. He was using a Vetta with Mesa cabs when I saw them recently, though the FOH was the Vetta direct.

Edit: I think he was using a 6505 (also with 6550 tubes) and some other amp on the last Divine Heresy album, though.
