New Fractal Audio Product in 5 day's

2 TigerSHARCs sounds good at first glance, but it is only 2x old dsps. Thanks, but that's too expensive: 2 grands for 2 amp sims at a time. Intel platform: 2 grands for more than 30 perfect sounding amp sims (AT 3.5) at a time. And still more and more cpu power every year.

Axe FX 2 for live use? - Maybe, but most live rooms just don't sound good enough to spend alot of money for equipment. Kemper amp will be enough. Cheaper and profiling, that's better.

Fractal is simply limited by the non-evolution of DSPs. Bad luck!

(TigerSHARCs are 10 years old by now)

Was hoping for something more interesting in the cab department... Oh well, at least the audiophiles will have something new to obsess about, despite not being able to tell if it's a pod or not in an A/B comparison.

Now to be fair, for new Axe fx users this is probably pretty sweet, considering the price is roughly the same as the old.

Over my GAS now. Basically.... just too expensive a proposition, even going 2nd hand with an Ultra 1. Don't want the plethora of amps, I have a great amp already. Just need something for live effects which has the same workhorse aspect to it as the Axe-FX, but without the bloat and high price tag. Boo hoo.

Actually a used Standard looks more appealing compared to this new one the more I think about it. Hmm...

The Axe-Fx is basically still in the same spot on my "want to purchase" list, I'd absolutely love one but for me being a bass player it'd purely be a studio tool and there's other things I want first. Like a U87ai :D

I ordered a standard a month ago, and just got an email saying that I will be getting an AxeFX II.

An extra £600 aside, I have no idea if this is going to be a good thing or not. I hope so.

Wait... your going to get a axefx2 for the standard price or they gave you the option to pay more for the 2?

I think you basically HAVE to pay more for the II whatever. G66's next shipment is only going to be IIs. Although I'm not totally sure, as the email wasn't 100% clear - but that's what I assumed it was getting at.

So did they give a timeline when they where shipping?

Would have been nice if they'd kept making the standard and the ultra at a reduced price. Most of the current users would likely upgrade to Axe II and I bet a bunch of folks would buy the old versions if the price was lowered a bit.

This is what the G66 email said concerning delivery

EVERYTHING'S NEW IN MAY
We are expecting the first delivery at the end of May and then in June and the following months we should see serious numbers of devices arriving in Europe. Fractal Audio has been preparing this product change for months. Cliff began developing the Axe-Fx II three years ago.
