New Fractal Audio Product in 5 day's

Do it , it costs nothing to get on the list . I could get mine in a couple of weeks , got to get some more cash together just in case .

Would have been nice if they'd kept making the standard and the ultra at a reduced price. Most of the current users would likely upgrade to Axe II and I bet a bunch of folks would buy the old versions if the price was lowered a bit.

They don't need to, the used marked already gets flooded with the old units.
I just bid 1€ on an Ultra on Ebay, while nearly pissing myself laughing.

Funny how my first hunch after seeing the picture puzzle actually ended up correct, see page 3.

Dont laugh, its going to happen to the II owners when the Axe FX III hits the stores

Im plotting having one sent to my friend in the states, then picking it up in September when i'm over there. As Drew pointed out, theres a bastard of a saving to be made (1k ish) since its going to be 2299 euro. Will it fit in a suitcase? lol.

And when that happens, I'll laugh even more and get a II. Come on Cliff, hurry up with that new Axe FX III, you know you need three TigerSharcs for the ultimate tone. :D

And I'm sure the Axe will fit in a suitcase, as it's a normal 19" 2U rack unit. As long as it's not fitted into a rack case it actually seems quite handy.

EDIT: Damn, I've already been outbidden by about 1089€ by now. :D
Someone must have realized these old units still sound just as good (or even better with the new firmware) as the day before.

i have a standard and i am still absolutely happy!
had it about 3 or 4 years now so it's not a "young product" as it was announced a few more years before.
i don't see anything bad about the axe 2, it was time for a new product and it came.

sure, i would feel a bit strange if i purchased the axe just now, or a few weeks before the axe 2 was announced but hey,
buy a copmuter, take it home, power it up, start the broswer. type in the specs and you'll se that it's already outdatet and much cheaper

"You're always just one firmware update away from being real...hamster on the wheel." -Shiny_Surface

This is just hilarious: http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p5197.m570.l1313&_nkw=axe+fx+ultra&_sacat=See-All-Categories

Notice one of them is listed at $2300, more than the AxeFX2!

For some reason they've always held their value extremely well on the used market. Always common to see the used units only 200USD less than the brand new units.
I can't see the release of the Axe FXII causes the old unit's prices to fall all that much on the used market, too many people are aware of how much they can sell them for.
My prediction is that the Axe FX standard will average for about 1100 US (it had been 1300USD for quite a while) after the Axe FXII is out.

Apparently they have made a big change with the firmware 11 for the Standard and Ultra. Installed it and noticed that the bass wasn't to flubby and that they've done something with the highs. Did a recording pre- and post new firmware, we'll see what that brings.

Interesting. I'll update my Ultra asap. Maybe they've learned something we've known for a long time. ;)

Yes a friend of mine sent me a riff comparison: with the same settings, the new firmware produce a more open sound...very sligthly but noticeable

Not to be a dick but that's pretty sloppy :zombie: I do hear a noticeable difference though. The 2nd half (v11) is a little more present in the upper mids, a little less flabby, otherwise same basic sound though.

the sound is just as good as you dial it in. this counts for tube amps, solid state amps, hardware and of course software modelers! :)

The reason why the used price is holding up so well, is that not because the waiting list for brand new units have been massive so you had to wait months from placing a order to actual get it ?

Im guessing if they get the production sorted and cut the waiting lines then the resell value will also go down.

C'mon it's a quick test, not a professional recording done in a studio....
It was done only to check the differences...
Don't undestand why so many times on this board if you aim with a finger the moon saying "check the moon", everybody looks at the finger and not at the moon.

Fractal has already said 2 weeks from ordering to shipping once they are available. From what I gather this unit has already been finished and ready to go for a while now, prepared for this announcement.
