Still no locking tuners (Grover's) and couldn't find anything on the Gibson page...

I only played the normal Gothic Les Paul once but I didn't like it either. Imo the neck was way to "sticky" (dunno if that makes sense... :goggly:)

After all the recent crap I've been hearing about Gibson, I would never put a penny towards one... They seem like they are going downhill.... Any idea how much those are going to run?

^how?

The V is about 1.300 - 1.400 euros over here. Haeven't found the explorer anywhere though...
You know it's really strange imo that there's shops who sell one or the other but I can't seem to find anything on the Gibson page...

I have an original Gibson SG Gothic. I bought it new years ago, and later installed EMG's to it.(81 and 85)

It has served me well, I have had no problems.

The neck is quite a thick bastard, but that's nothing new when it comes to Gibsons.

The stock strap buttons were useless, so I put Schaller Straplocks to it. But other than that, I have not modded it.

It is an OK guitar I guess. In my opinion it is very reliable, but as a whole, a very average guitar.

heh... i bought the gothic explorer back in 2001 or 2002 and that had the stock gibson pickups... and i replaced those with EMG's back then.
However, the stock pickups sounded great! the EMG's are not bad at all, but i kinda wished i did not swap them and sold the stock pickups..

But it is the best guitar i have ever played though! my favorite guitar by far and i will never sell.. not even for crackmoney.

I have both a Epiphone Explorer and Epiphone Les Paul Gothic, bought in 2002.

I replaced the pickups long ago with EMGs and although the neck in the Les Paul is maybe a little too thick (and not sticky at all), the neck, body and fretboard on the Explorer are absolutely amazing. All I did other than taking one out of the box was to intonate, set the neck (done by a luthier) straight and replacing the pickups (by myself, leaving out of the circuitry the tone pot).

If this new Gothic Gibson matches my Explorer, much appreciated. I have a killer guitar and I paid a fraction of money I would pay to have the Gibson itself.
