New Iced Earth

Definitely better then the latest stuff, songwise.
Vocals sound really cool too, fits pretty nice imo...feels Schaffer found someone who can do Barlow and Ripper like stuff!

All about Something Wicked for me. Absolutely brilliant. Dark Saga was good as well. I have pretty much everything they've done but don't listen to much outside those two albums.

I've had the honor of growing up in the same town as Justin Bender and Stu Block. They've been through a lot of shit and calling them a "joke band" is pretty low.

They're all really good guys and actually took the time to come down to a shady parkade to listen to my band's rough demo a couple years ago when I first met them :p

Canadian metal bands, IMHO, are a tight bunch.

+1

Glorious Burden and Framing Armageddon are my favs.

Ripper does a really great job on those two.

If anyone hasn't heard it yet, check out Into Eternity's new song "Sandstorm" on their bandcamp page: http://intoeternity.bandcamp.com/ (keep in mind tho, this is just a pre-production demo and the mix isn't that great.)

Mix aside, Stu's vocals are amazing. He's one of the few that has such a wide vocal range, and definitely is up there with vocalists like Mikael Akerfeldt and Christian Alvestam for me.

I'm so stoked that Stu is doing the vox for Iced Earth! Cannot wait for this.

The 2 new songs have some kind of old school vibe but the structures still are kinda simple. If this is the best they can do. I am disappointed!lol New IE it´s like new maiden, not bad but far from the golden years.

Nail on the head, imho.

I saw Maiden live a month or so ago. Now they were brilliant, but the old material is just so much better in every way. Since X-factor came out, it's like they substituted good songs with long songs.

All their new songs seemed to go:

- 3 minute 'clean' intro.
- 5 minutes verses and choruses
- 2 minutes of solos, where Adrian Smith was fucking BOSS, Dave Murray was good old decent Dave Murray, and Janick was quieter and rubbisher.
- Probably another minute of choruses.
- 3 minute 'clean' outro, remarkably similar to the intro.

14 minute songs aren't prog Mr Harris, they are just eating into the time that you could have been playing Powerslave or Wasted Years.
