new Judas Priest track

32K WMA = :ill:

So let's see:

"Judas Rising" is the 'album version' and it practically sounds mono (did KK Downing not show up for this?)

The others are '2 channel stereo versions' where you can hear two guitars. Weird.

"Revolution" - haha, Marc Bolan's "Children of the Revolution" anyone? Nice 70's thing there...

"Worth Fighting For" sounds alright, if a bit radio friendly...

I think I'll wait for the final release.
Yea the sound quality is crap but not so bad that you can't tell what's going on overall. Revolution blah, i still don't like the song and if i can afford to buy this CD will probably end up being skipped evry time. Priest have had intermittant radio friendly songs through their career so that's no big surprise to me. After all it's not like they're some obscure band on Uncle Joe Bob's cousin's record label out in Siberia. I liked most of it thus far and look forward to hearing the rest.

Just curious, is anyone going into this expecting "Painkiller pt. 2"? I guess it can't be helped since, in theory, this is the first real JP album since Painkiller.....

Likewise, had Halford sung on either "Demolition" or "Jugulator", would they have been better albums?

:Spin:

I think Jugulator was awesome in its own right. Hell, Cathedral Spires is possibly my favorite Priest song ever–hearing Halford on it would be orgasmic. So I guess the answer is yes for Jugulator, but it doesn't really need him to be a good album. And I don't think anything could have saved Demolition - the problem was the songwriting and Glenn Tipton's stupid kids.

All this bollocks about cover art...you guys completely forget about an album called PAINKILLER?! :loco:

That art is kinda snazzy, though it would've been better if it weren't computer-done...still, that'll look class in the shops :D

Fucking exactly. I would pay top dollar to see Halford pull off a few songs off of Jugulator, especially Cathedral Spires. We should raid the JP board and start flooding it with this request. Dickinson did Sign of the Cross, which only proved that the X-Factor album was written for Dickinson and would've been the best album since 88 if they had him on it...

not sure I like revolutions; sounds kinda weak to me; not sure what I expect them to deliver anyhow; have to wait and see

Why? While Tim owes 90% of his style to Rob, do you really think Rob is stronger than Tim at this point in their respective careers? I never followed Ripper while he was in Priest. However, I saw Iced Earth twice on their most recent tour, and suffice it to say, there's nothing Ripper can't do live. It might sound like blasphemy, but if you had each of them walk out on stage and sing the same song, my money is on Ripper.

would be close; halford can still hit those high notes! But since I was at those IE shows I too thought the ripper was very very good live.

I'm listening to the entire album right now.... I don't know, at the moment I'm in the middle of the road. :erk:
Same here, most of it is rather bland actually. If i had a heart, it would be broken.

I like tracks 1,5,7,8,9 and 10. Don't care for the revolution track or remaining.

Where is the Dimebag video in your sig from? Pantera DVD or elsewhere?

Im getting different vibes from different songs on the album, some 80's material, some 70's sounding, and some painkiller, and even more recent like demolition. I have to let this sink in more, but im ehh, somewhere in the middle...

Holy hell, "Lochness," last track 13 minutes, 22 seconds!

I'm liking this one.
 Fucking HELL!!!! Go Priest!

Herm...Deal With The Devil was cool old school Priest, wasn't expecting them to do anything like that. Judas Rising felt very restrained, cool solos and "Juuuuudassss Risiiiiiiiiiing!!!!" bit, Worth Fighting For is positively mainstream...!

This album looks like it's going to be more of a surprise than I anticipated. I'm definately buying it
