New Mackie MR Series monitors...

Anyone seen these? Seems like they are supposed to be direct competition for the M-Audio BX8a and BX5a... I think I might pick up a pair of the MR5s to cart around with me for tracking instead of my huge fuckin' BX8as...

i heard the 5s at gc and they delivered a lot of bass for a monitor that small. must have some pretty hyped bottom end going on there. i got the hs50s for a second set of monitors and the makies had at least twice as much low end going on. they sounded pretty good though.

How do you like those? I was considering those ones as well until I saw the Mackie ones...

i got the hs50 to cross reference with my event asp8. the are a really good compliment to the events. if you are only going to have one set of monitors you will definetly want to check out the hs80s instead.

having lots of low end from a small speaker isnt necessarily a good thing because it will be an unnatural representation and wont translate well on other systems. if a speaker enhances or boosts a freq. range, then you will make poor mix decisions and low end will sound like ass. alot of smaller monitors suffer from this symptom and when you combine that with the skewed low end of an untreated room, you might aswell monitor with earbuds.
