New mix, might post DI's + drum-midi!

Hey guys!

Here's my newest mix! The song is by a friend of mine, he recorded everything, I mixed!

He gave me the allowance to post the DI's for guitar and bass + the drum-midi, but I first want to know, if there are people wanting to mix this... and some feedback too, of course.

No mastering done yet, except a limiter for volume. If you have any questions about the mix or whatever feel free to ask!

to much mids on those rhythm guitars to me... i like the drums,,, but i dont feel enough glue with bass and the guitars,,,

Your mix sounds pretty good, but it sounds like the guitars have some lowish-mids that could be cut out, the drums could come up and hit a bit harder, and the bass guitar is a bit too loud.

I agree that the guitars are way too middy. For me the kick is too clicky but okay.

Yeah those guitars got all the honk and cardboard anyone could ask for. Haha. Seriously though they need a lot of EQing. I really wouldn't know where to start at. I guess start at the mud frequency which IMO is 250hz. Then move up to 500hz. You might have to add some 2k or even some 5k to compensate after you cut some of the mids. The potential is there it just needs some work.

Hahhaha, well ok then - generally I think this is quite a decent mix. But, on the first listen these were my thoughts:
- The guitars are a tiny bit louder than they should be compared to the rest of the mix. On their own they sound great
- There is an overall "looseness" of the sub-bass frequencies, kinda like they're not compressed enough... they're just a bit distracting.
- The kick has a pronounced trebly slap that could be tamed a little.

That's what I'm hearing

the bass is way too twangy, it pokes through in a distracting way, not really a good way. but i guess a lot of people like that sound.

I haven't written or recorded that song, it was a friend of mine. I think he uses EMG's.

it was fun to mix! loved it.

Gear used: own samples on drums (brass snare, dw kick w/sub), tama toms /green) and cymbals are steven slate. Guitar: re-amp with my trusty 5150III EVH into a Krank cab.
