New Mnemic

It's a good album, with good songs and good production but............
If you ear the whole cd the only thing you can remember of every song is the chorus...the other parts absolutely doesn't stay in your mind...
Many many many vocal tracks...I don't know how they can reproduce all this shit live.
Some stolen samples from SYL..

I fukkin' love this band!!!
I can't wait to BUY the new album and refuse to even think about downloading even a single song. I suppose i'm quite old fasioned in that respect that I like supporting the artist.

I have however heard the sample on their website. Is it just me or are the vocals a little too "out in front" and the guitars seem a little too unclear? Maybe it's just the sample quality.

I'm also going to buy it, cos i "previewed" it, even if i think it sucks. Not all the songs, but most of 'em are not very catchy. The sound is very undefined indeed! It sounds really muddy and the vocals are too loud.

I wonder how it would have sounded if Andy had mixed it...

Checked out a couple of songs last night in between mixing songs. The mix is bizarre, but it sounds like a cool disc. Definitely some sing-along choruses and other things going on that are different for them. Can't wait to check the rest out...

Usually when ears get so stressed by a mix it's a case of 'either/or'.

Either you are listening it at a volume too loud,

or it's a mix your ears are not very accustomed to, therefore subconciously you are trying to find those 'missing' frequencies or sounds you usually find in most of the other records in your collection.

Wow, lots of 'you' & 'your' in this post.
Anyway...

Mnemic tends to do a lot of vocal layering stuff, which generally sounds cool on the record, but their singer looks bad live when there's a bunch of loud vocal tracks playing with him and he has to somehow make himself fit into it. I'm excited to see the new guy in concert, though.

Do they perform to backing tracks?

Yes. The chorus of "Dreamstate Emergency" sounded sooo...strange, with all those big auto-tuned studio harmonies flying along with a live band. Then again, every show is different in that the levels might have been crappy at the show I saw. If the backing track was turned down more, it probably would have sounded better...but then again, turning it down would have exposed the missed notes from the actual live vocalist.

Don't get me wrong, I love Mnemic, but I find it funny that Mircea made such a huge deal about "NO DRUM TRIGGERS LOL", but his band plays live to backing tracks.

The new guy kicked ass all over the place at the Soilwork show - his cleans were spot on. I think he beat their old singer senseless with a stick, and I really want to hear the rest of the new thing.

I don't know about the whole painful mix thing, but I honestly like 'painful' mixes in the same way that I like thrashing things at concerts and violent sex.

Jeff

Heard the teaser....sounded like "we wanna be a bigger band so we'll make a boring recored everyone and their grandmother can listen too......." ...oh, I think triggers sounds cool by they way...sounds futuristic in my ears and blends well with mics....too band they where to stressed up with being un-triggered...

Yes i know that! I listened at average volume as usual and on a ok hifi so it's definatly a weird mix...

But, man, what do you mean with this: Wow, lots of 'you' & 'your' in this post.

Lol, I don't get it...:Smokin:

You took the words right out of my mouth. It's still a good production, but it could have been better.

He does indeed! He used to be in Scarve previously, and imo they beat Mnemic senseless with a stick anyday

Uh... Nothing in particular, it was late at night, I was really sleepy and it seemed to me that I repeated the words 'you' and 'your' a lot.

If you count them they ARE a lot but not so many.

Nevermind...

:hypno:

what is it these days with people having so much of a problem against click tracks or backing tracks or even triggers!

shit people, that stuff was invented for a reason
you wanna go see sabbath? go see them

humans have advanced music to a level never imagined, and now we complain about it? haha

i love the fact that i can hear the full sound of a kick drum at rapid speeds, go play a real kick drum that fast, it sounds retarded

people now have the tools to take what they can imagine in their head, and put it out there, things that weren't possible on traditional musical equipment

and fuck, it probably costs about 30,000 less to go on tour with backing tracks, instead of hiring 10 extra people to do the shit live, and have a chance of them messing it up as well

lol !!
