new My Dying Bride album sample

Sounds great. Sounds like the MDB I like to hear. The violin is back as it ought to be.

And as a side note-- anyone who hears our new cd and the new MDB and still tries to compare us or claim we are just copies of them, must be fucking deaf, because they couldn't sound more opposite.

Now if MDB could at least get over here for one show that'd be awesome.

I was hoping with the success that KATATONIA had on their past 2 N American tours that it would pave the way for Peaceville to push for a MDB tour.

Maybe someday.

I know they did a very short stint supporting DIO in the late 90's.
I think that show hit Jackhammers in Schaumburg.
I was downstate in Champaign in college at the time.
Though I certainly was not familiar with MDB at that time, so it wouldn't have mattered. Ha!

I don't think the Katatonia tours were exactly what one might call a "huge success". Not that they did badly but I don't think the numbers were quite high enough that it'd automatically instill confidence in the label to start sending over more bands. Plus, I think more to the point with MDB is the fact that they're all people with jobs and families, and can only get away to do a certain amount of touring and traveling every year. I'm sure they do get offers now and then to come to the U.S., but they just haven't been lucrative enough to warrant using up that precious time to come here. Y'know it's like.......either tour the U.S. and maybe get a fair draw and o.k. money, or tour Europe in the summer and play all the fests over there in front of tens of thousands of people? I know which one I'd choose

Sure, Novembers Doom are only Doom in that you guys write what you think sounds good and since some of you like Candlemass and/or Trouble that *in theory* colors what you do. However, you've got the word "doom" in your name. In a world where Agalloch sounds just like Opeth because songs pass the 8 minute mark and they use acoustics, you guys *must* be My Dying Bride clones!

Yeah, I heard some song by this band called Pink Floyd the other day, and they were using the same kind of clean guitars and acoustic sounds as Opeth, and alot of the chord changes and vocal melodies were really similar as well. Their songs were kinda long and had a "proggy" touch while also going into some hard rockin' parts as well. Man I'll tell you, the nerve of some bands out there, always ripping off what Opeth does. There's only ONE Opeth!!! And I bet this "Pink Floyd" band probably listens to Porcupine Tree too!!! Hmmmph.

also the whole opeth argument is kinda relevant to alot of bands. In mourning being an example here, but they cover ground which opeth generally dont tread, which is clear and concise songs. But i think with many early blooming bands, its hard to come into the game not wearing their influences on their sleeves. not a fan of the band btw, just an observation when listening.
But take a band like enslaved who, on paper, will do a similar sort of thing. Clean, heavy, clean vox, harsh vox, big epic songs etc. But actually there would be no mistaking either band when listening to them. akercocke are also another example that might be thrown into the opeth comparison bucket.

Can't wait. Sounds awesome.

katatonia would be a huge band with more exposure. far catchier than lacuna coil and they seem to be faring better on the popularity scale.

I think they would be more popular if a US band and yeah they need more exposure and push.

Maybe Katatonia could come back to the U.S. and open up some shows for ND. That'd be pretty friggin awesome, and maybe I'd finally get to see ND live AND actually have a support band I give a rat's ass about (unlike this tour which was sadly cancelled...I would have seen you guys and then left)
