New OCEANO song posted

actually now that I think about it, maybe all the "good" bands you guys are referring to are only good because he had to add his magic to them and thats why they are "good"

hahah jk im just trollin now

i dunno man...all i can tell you is that when i heard a couple tracks off of their last album, i was like "OMG dude this band sucks, but the shit sounds so damn killer"

hearing this zeuss mix, i just :puke:

I think his sounds are good, but there's really not much he can do for shitty bands. Arsis was a good example, I don't hear any of those snare bombs or any build up effects on any songs in We Are The Nightmare or Starve For The Devil, because they don't need them. They have good and interesting songs on their own, and the production is good enough to where it doesn't take away from the songs.

lol no. the label wanted the first album to sound like their demos

which were TERRIBLE

nothing was in tune and everything was a mess. and the bass drops made the mix distort. the guy actually tried to get me to make it like that.

Ohh God that thread was so long ago! haha made me laugh when i saw it. daju-voo

And i agree.

hey joey , do you remember what kick you used when you recorded them ? that mix was pretty awesome

Depths was probably the best example I can think of where the production was perfect for the band. I'm not surprised this falls short. It's a good mix but it's following one of the best metal mixes ever.

who mixed this?

if its who i think it is, for them the snare is a little ambient and as a result - loud. imo yeah maybe guitars were a little gainy/mushy. still sound great though. could just be youtube fucking with us. maybe both. either way sounds like a new production direction

not my favorite band.

I actually think this mix is pretty cool.
I personally would have done it a bit different, but I still think it's very valid.

Joey's mix is great.
Zuess's mix is also great.

Zuess does very different mixes from project to project and that isn't a bad thing.
I'm sure most of us can learn from Zuess and his ability to create very diverse mixes.
