New rough Mix by Moi

Killer riffage man I love how open and atmospheric the 2nd movement sounds. As far as production goes I like the guitars quite a bit, the drums feel dry, muffeled and claustophobic and lack the sparkle and atmosphere the riffs and guitars paint. What are you using for drums? DFH? My Advice increase the stereo spread of the drum mix. Use a room emulator for a "drum room" sound and some verb on the snare. Kick needs more click and is not loud enough for me.

Great tune though, I write progressive death as well and you ideas are inspiring me to get back to work on my shit. Thanks for the post dude!

Try downloadin it here!

I hope to god this works... its a public ftp so the file name is really dumb, if it doesn't let me know please.

Word of warning too, its a pretty big file.

All comments appreciated!

Thanks in advance!
What Amp? What guitar?

Killer song but as evildonkeymaster pointed out there is something muffled and claustophobic about the drums.

Yeah i agree, i think its the verb that i used was wrong for the song. That said i haven't gone out of my way to balance everything nicely either tho so I could possibly sort that out a bit too.

The amp is actually the POD 2.0 (seriously) just one track on either side, no doubling or any of that. The guitar is an ESP viper 301 with passive EMG HZ's. the pod is running into the m audio audio buddy preamp too i should add.

The clean/effected guitars in the mid section are guitar rig presets... forget which ones in particular but they're 1.1 update models.

Drums are DFh superior with waves stuff done to them... not really that in love with the sounds either i confess but they're the best i have...

Funny that you actually liked the song tho, i wrote it in about 5 minutes... wasn't actually meant to be good lol

Thanks anyway guys

to get the Sonar kick to sound metal you have to cut like 18db at about 225-250hz (middle of the road Q like 25 Waves or 4.5 Cubase SX) then Hi-Shelf at about 7000-7500 boost at 10db, then depending on how you want the click to sound you do a narrow q ( like 45 waves or 10.5 Cubase SX) boost 1.5db higher then the high self (in this case that makes it 11.5) at 7500 (for hi pitched click) or like 4600 for more of that Lamb of God clunk.
