New Sample Kit!

The Apprentice
The Kit is a Pearl Forum Kit.

The samples are of the Kick, Snare, and toms

Here is an audio sample: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/56167527/Kit Test.mp3
All that was done in the sample was some slight EQ on the Kick, Snare, and Low Tom. The cymbals are from the Joey Sturgis Truth Kit.

Mics Used

Kick: Audix D6
Snare Top: Audix i5
Snare Bottom: Sm57
High Tom: Audix i5
Low Tom: Audix D6
Overheads: Behringer C-2's
Mono Room Mic: Audio Technica AT2050
Stereo Room Mics: Cascade Fathead II's

Other Gear: Presonus M80, Tascam US-1800

I have done virtually no processing at all. I wanted these samples to be untouched so you have complete control over them.

For each piece of the kit there are separate sample sets of: Top mic, Overheads, Mono Room, Stereo Room, and Full (all mics together).
There are also separate top and bottom samples for the Snare.
I have only made .nki's.

You can buy the full kit, or individual parts.

Sounds sweet, how many different hits are their for the snare? It sounds a bit robotic on the snare roll to me. Other than that it sounds good, I've owned a Pearl Forum myself but never got it to sound this good lol!

The snare only has 14 different hits if I remember correctly. That's the main drawback of these samples. The velocities have to be humanized. And yeah I was extremely pleased with the results! We had a killer room to track in and I had access to plenty of mics. The kit isn't entirely stock. The drummer actually stripped the clear coat from the kit, so that could have a lot to do with the tone. I just wish we would have sampled a lot more hits.
