Hi all

Heres my newest mix.. I need your opinions. I think this sounds quite good already, but I've been wrong before :).. It's missing lead-guitar but ignore that.. The guitars are quad tracked all the way (the loose plug thingy also :)). The guitars have more distortion to them unlike never before in my music, thanks to the bad monkey.

I need to know are there too much distortion? Is there too much bass? Do the guitars sound fizzy or too modeled still (damn my hifi "monitors"). The bass, I haven't got a clue:rolleyes: .. It's there alright :).. And the drums.. well, I think the kick and snare sounds quite ok.. Toms have too much ring to them but that's about it I can think of..

Sorry for the writing mistakes and other shit.. Had a hmm "few" drinks after (and during) mix :loco: :kickass: :Smug:

This sounds awesome! I was listening for something to criticize and the only thing I can possibly maybe think of is the right cymbal sounds a little bright & phasey. Sometimes the hi-hats sound a bit phasey too but most hi-hats do to me anyway. I wouldn't worry about that. Awesome job man. Bravo!

Nice riffing!
Is it related to the band Deranged?

As for the mix, I think the distortion is ok, no need to put less into it in my opinion. What's with the guitars? POD? Doesn't sound like an amb/cab to me.

Nonetheless, I really dig the music :headbang:

Sounds good on my speakers, maybe make the guitars more wide as they sound a bit thin.

Now THAT'S some tight guitar playing!

Really nice mix dude, guitars have a nice natural feel to em, original riffs as well, really digging this.

Wow.. Thanks for the comments everyone:headbang:
It is not related to the Deranged band.. Actually I have never heard of it.. the word deranged just came to my mind at mixdown..

I guess that the higain/mesa combination worked well in this track.. And not to forget the bad monkey which is great w/podxt

sounds nice man....bad monkey give a natural sound to the pod wow.
can you give settings for bad monkey and pod...cool riffs too!

Monkey settings
Level - 10 o'clock
Low - 3 o'clock
High - 5 o'clock
Gain - 11 o'clock

I shoud also note that I use a Jackson DRX guitar with stock passive pickups:erk: .. No actives here..:Smug:
I should also tune lower (can't really go 'meshuggah' with d-tuning) but my guitar's intonation doesn't allow it:cry:

wow men.. im shock....

really nice i will try them with my pod also :)!

hey men

can you share the snare???? please!!!

Thanks :)

Here's the snare sample http://www.sneapforum.celtiaproductions.co.uk/Decimator/Nevermore_Snare.aif
I think I found it from this forum in the first place :)

I blended it about 60/40 with addictive drums sonor designer snare (60%sonor, 40%nevermore that is)

I recommend the addictive drums prog.. I't kickass. Not as versatile as DFHS and theres less samples, but it's easier to get good sounds
