New song idea - need help with the mix

It's just few riffs for now since I'm still working on it, with drums and bass. I'm looking for your input for the overall sound of the mix. I think it's my best mix to date, but still I believe i can do better than this. Any suggestions and criticism are always welcome.

The drum sound is good. I feel like the kick and snare need meet each other in the middle more. That's confusing, but I mean that I want less snare presence and more kick presence. The bass seems to be gelling with the guitars pretty well. The guitars are a little dark and digital sounding. Try putting an exciter on the guitar tracks. It will bring them out. The levels are good though and the riffs are sweet.

But what is that strange cymbal part from 0:58 onwards? sounds strange to me

@Mago: In that part cymbals are a lil bit off tempo, has a little swing feel to them, maybe that is the reason it seems strange.

@zackpennington: overall, my goal is to find more reliable tones since these are 'emergency backup' tones. Just a starting point. I will experiment more and put updated mixes, if i can top this mix.

Here are two new mixes. Changed the kick and the snare (i think i went overboard with the reverb but what the hell) and quad tracked the guitars (actually added two more to the originals). There are two different versions with different guitar tones tell me which one you like more.
