and i have no clue whats going on

Well in a nut shell, when you are using any equipment that has conversion going on, all the converters in the equipment you have need to be in sync with one another or else you get some issues.

The easiest thing to do, without getting into more expensive equipment, is to just make whatever piece of gear you have, with the best clock, the master.

There is a ton more that goes into it, I just wanted to give you the easiest explanation. I'm sure Wikipedia goes in depth on the matter, read up there.

Google is your friend: http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/apr03/articles/digitalclocking.asp

Does your POD have Spdiff in and out or just out?

If it has both read this:

If your pod only has Spdiff out you will need to set your soundcard to clock as "slave" or "external sync" over spdiff because the pod only has spdiff "out" and not "IN" .
clocking is a directional thing and goes from "master to slave". "out to in"

All this i found with a single google search, its a wonderful thing :)
