New Toys & Mesa vs. Mesa

Just got these today. :)

Benn looking for a Tremoverb for a while and finally found this one in great shape on eBay and it was local. Won the auction last night and picked it up a few hours ago. Also, a nice little suprise. Previous owner must have bought a eurotubes kit because all 12ax7s and 6l6s are JJs.

Finished my session early today so i thought I'd take my Maxon OD808 down to one of the local boutique guitar shops and compare it to a few of the Keeley modded ts9s. Played though a Rivera Knucklehead and I couldn't crank it too loud but from what I heard the Keeley ts9 smoked the OD808 by a mile. I know he raises some of the cap values to let more low end through and i thought that might counter act some of the tightness we use these pedals for, but if anything the attack was more defined while the tone was thicker.

Can't wait to get both these monsters to the studio tomorrow!

I now have the tremoverb and a newer 3ch dual rec. One of them has got to go. I guessing its gonna be the 3ch but next week I'm planning a pretty extensive shootout for a reamping session. I'll post sample here if anyone interested. Might work in some different tube combinations as well.

Yeah I was told to go for the Maxon 808...I have a Keeley Modded TS-9 with True Bypass and I love it. I've only ever compared it to my other TS-9 which is stock and it is no contest. I'm skeptical about anything else being even close to as good as my Keeley...

Dave, from the pic it looks like you got a TS-9DX, lots fo cool modes on that thing.

Yea, it's a Keeley flexi 4x2. Pretty much just both Keeley mods stuffed into a ts9-dx. In ts9 mode with the switch down its just like the standard mod plus. Flip the switch up for the baked mod. Just more gain and some pretty sweet over driven Marshall tones.

Probably wont use the baked mod much, but whats another 50 bucks.

Waiting on some tubes to really dig in. The tremoverb came with JJ 12ax7s which I dont like much.

Sounds killer allready but right now the Dual lead sounds a little better. I think that will change when I level the tube playing field. I have a full set of 9th gen Chiniese on the way and a EH gold tip to try in V1.

The Kelley TS9DX is a winner for sure though. My old Maxon OD808 is going up on craig's list soon. :headbang:

It's probably going to be a week or two till I have a free day to really fuck with them.
