+1, and the snare is waaaay too loud/not compressed enough for the gat tone/style of riffing, IMO. Sounds like metal kit with a very rock snare - almost like the bottom mic is high in the mix?

DSS3: Kinda funny you didn't like the snare.... that's one of my favorite bits... Used this same drum part on an earlier sample a few months back (Ok, it's all I had kicking around) & got a number of compliments on it ..
But, I'm mainly concentrating on the guitar tone for this one.

Thanks very much, guys! An extra set of ears or six is always a good idea. I was going for that "Heartwork" kind of low end & I think I got carried away

And yes, the new toys are my Mesa Standard Cab & Acrylic BC Rich Warlock.... EMG 85 in the bridge. I've been very impressed with the ferocious tone out of this instrument. The body mass might have something to do with it You need a fucking forklift just to pick this thing up!

The secret is in the unique mic position, you have to aim it at the heads

Sounds awesome.

I'm curious about your thoughts on the acrylic rich vs. the mahogany hellraiser. (besides both are great and the rich is heavier)
Is it a close toss up or are you still liking the hellraiser the best or do you need more time to compare?
