According to a posting at I Ate Your Microphone, a three-CD/DVD box set featuring newly remastered versions of DEATH ANGEL's "The Ultra-Violence" (1987) and "Frolic Through The Park" (1988) outings is being readied for release by Restless Records under the moniker "Archives & Artifacts" on February 1, 2005. The discs will feature additional bonus tracks not found on the original albums, while a third CD within the set will compile a wealth of previously unreleased live and demo cuts. Meanwhile, the DVD portion of the collection is expected to feature all of the band's promotional videos to date, along with various pieces of rehearsal and behind the scenes footage. You can find artwork for the package here.

Reunited San Francisco Bay Area thrashers HEATHEN have been confirmed for the Headbangers Open Air 2005 festival, set to take place July 9-10, 2005 in Germany. HEATHEN have also been confirmed for the Thrash Till Death festival, set to take place July 15-16, 2005 in Wendessen, Germany. As previously reported, HEATHEN are scheduled to enter the studio in January to begin recording their new full-length album. An early spring release through an as-yet-undetermined label is expected.

HEATHEN were forced to abandon their plans for a DVD release due to "legal problems." The group are continuing to offer refunds for DVDs purchased via PayPal. If you haven't received your refund, contact the band at info@heathenmetal.com.

HEATHEN recently announced the addition of bassist Jon Torres to the group's ranks. Torres is no stranger to the Bay Area metal scene, having participated in such bands as THUNDERHEAD, WARNING SF, ULYSSES SIREN, LAAZ ROCKIT and ANGEL WITCH. The band, who are currently unsigned, released their latest CD, "Recovered", independently this past spring. The effort featured covers of songs from QUEEN, THIN LIZZY, TYGERS OF PAN TANG and SWEET SAVAGE, as well as an original track, "In Memory of…" (written and dedicated to former band member Randy Laird and lead vocalist David White's brother Jeffrey).

More information has been released regarding LEATHERWOLF's singer search following the recent departure of RACER X frontman Jeff Martin.

The California-based band "are looking for someone with the right experience, energy, dedication and stage presence," the group write on their web site. "Vocally you must be able to sing all of the Michael Olivieri songs and Jeff Martin demo songs. Must be able to write and bring your own style to the band a well. If you can play a guitar and/or keyboards this is a plus.

"We are looking for a Rob Halford-style singer or any one that feels they can handle the metal vocals of LEATHERWOLF! Please no Geoff Tate clones, we want a rougher, meaner vocallist, again, on the lines of a Rob Halford and/or Jeff Martin on the demo songs. Someone with strong metal vocals! We will making a new studio CD here when we find you! A singer is the last piece of the LEATHERWOLF attack!

"Please send an audio CD and a picture of yourself, bio and/or any video footage you have of any live performances. You can also email us too to request contact information or to simply give is information about you as well. Thanks!"

Send to:

I can't wait to get the Death Angel box set. I do not own the first two albums yet so this is the perfect opportunity to get them. Cool to see Heathen active in the festival circuit. It's too bad about their dvd. If the Metal Church/Flotsam and Jetsam US tour ever takes off it would be cool to include Heathen as part of the package. The two Leatherwolf songs sound awesome, I hope they get a good vocalist.
