i'm locking it as requested by the original poster (sorry nick. you know i love you anyway).

but i don't want this to become a habit, for two reasons:

1. take responsibility for the stuff you post, no matter the replies you get. if something sounds like a good idea for a topic but then turns into a gigantic flame-fest (not this case, i'm just saying), well, tough. learn to measure the perceived importance of what matters to you against the eternal desire of anonymous forum users to say "fuck in flames" in all caps.

2. when you lose interest in a thread or topic, stop replying. most visitors here - and a few regulars - are quadriplegic who can never even scroll to the bottom of the first page anyway. in a couple of days your thread will be out of sight and therefore out of mind. any comment along the lines of "lol, let's stop it now" is still a reply, will still bump the thread, will still push someone else to post "lol, ok" and so on.
