Man oh Man. I'm torn guys, really torn. With me, Nightwish is about the music itself. The vocals are somewhat secondary. I was very worried about not just a new singer, but a singer with a different style. You know what? I kinda like it. It's different. And yes, some songs are better meant for Tarja. That doesn't mean Annette can't sing. I like the Amaranth video and am looking very forward to Tuesday for the whole CD.
This kind of reminds me of the mid 90's when I was first getting into this genre. My first exposure to metal was Savatage and the fists were out for the Jon vs Zak possies. I really liked Zak and was considered an "outsider"! I bet looking back on it all, most Savatage fans really like both singers, just in different ways. They each brought something special. That's how I hope this turns out with Nightwish. Two talented, yet different singers. Here's to the future. Let's see what's in store.
