no Live noticeable difference in V30's and 5150 Sheffield 1200's.

on my 5150 Straight Cab.... I took out two Sheffield 1200's and installed two brand new Vintage 30's in the X pattern.

Though I haven't recorded with it yet.....I can tell no difference in Live sound.

But, I can tell you that the V30 magnet is a little heavier than the 1200 Sheffield, and that might make a subtle difference in recording.

.....Hopefully, recording will be noticable.:erk:

i thought those sheffield speakers where horrific, i wouldn't wish a 5150 cab onto my worst enemy TBH and i pretty much exclusively use v30s or greenbacks!

Yeah, what Andy said. I couldn't get a good recorded tone for shit from my Sheffields, and when I swapped them out for V30s... well, check out the Clayman thread for a quick clip I recorded soon after I got the first V30. Not perfect by any means, but it's getting much closer than the Sheffields ever were.

in the next day or two I will record a clip and post it to get some opinions.

I have an SM57 and an Audix i5, and they will be ran through an M-Audio DMP3 preamp.

I will use the "nordic-whatever" method as I've heard some good results about this.....maybe the i5 centered, and the sm57 off-axis.

we shall see.
