all i am saying about the whole uproar is that everyone is complaining that the latest Metallica stuff isnt as heavy as And Just For All so they are complaining, everyone that has had the opportunity to hear some tracks of St. Anger were completely blown out of the water...but either way, no matter what you feel towards Metallica, just kick back, and wait to see what this album is like, just like before, either you like or you dont...

Stating that just goes to show that you don't know what in the holy fuck you are talking about.It's progression, natural musical progression.The lyrics in every maiden album got progressively better and thats a fucking fact.Musically they went from quick 3 or 4 minute songs with hardly no leads and rythm, to masterpieces full of leads and rythms, 4 solos, atmospheric keyboards, the whole fucking works.Metallica on the other hand went forwards, then took a big leap backwards and dove into a pool of shit.From long progressive songs to quick poppy radio-friendly tunes.Songs about politics to dissapearing.(wtf?!)
Iron Maiden is a prime example of greatness.Never selling out to the mainstream audience and at the same time did not get redundant.Whenever they felt like things were getting boring they would change things up.EXPERIMENT with their sound while staying true to their roots.Unlike metallica who completely forgot they had fans and roots.
Maiden:
IM>PS:Sped up the songs improved the lyrics
SIT>SSOASS:Added synths for more effects
NPFTD>FOTD:Went back to roots with newfound knowledge
With the new singer they took their music to a new evolution and focused on longer arrangements and much more serious/atmospheric events and emotions.
And with BNW, they took every element of their past and created a fucking masterpiece.
Metallica:
KEA>MOP:start a new wave of music, improve on sound
MOP>AJFA:improve, but decide to make a video, taste success, get a professional producer
TBA:Make a hard rock record for the masses, REALLY tasted money
Load>now:repeat current trends in music in an attempt for more fucking money
Honestly though, maiden tasted tons of success with their albums from 1982-1988, they had somewhat popular radio songs and every album after they would change things up and steer away from radio friendly bullshit.Metallica got ONE hit single, ONE fucking hit, and then they got some big money and all it took was that to get them to sell-out to the mainstream.Maiden had NotB, Run to the hills, Wasted Years, Aces High, Can I Play With MAdness and still stayed true to their roots without being a corporate dickheaded shitty band.
Load and Reload is barely metal, BARELY.I'd call it more blues/hard rock/AIC (circa DIRT) influenced music.
Dude Maiden never tasted success like Metallica has. Whenever I see Maiden in the popular culture somebody is using them to parody metal. They're pretty much a joke as far as 'the rest of the world' is concerned. At least Metallica injected some metal into the veins of the top 40.
