A lot of drone bands are heavy as fuck too, but a lot of people
seem to have a hard time with them. Personally I enjoy stuff
like Sunn O))) and Earth though.

Agree totally, if you are looking for something that's heavy and enthralling, go for Funeral Doom...
If you aren't used to the genre it takes a while to get into, but it is definately worth it...

Strapping Young Lad "City" album is heavier than any of these generic "heavy" death bands. Just download "Oh My Fucking God" and listen. That is the heaviest song ever recorded.
i'll agree with Anaal Nathrakh, and Cryptopsy. oh and is it just me or has no one mentioned NILE? check out Zyklon, and mortician (the sound of death is what mortician are, rather than music).

It is surprising that Nile haven't featured much in this thread...but yeah if you want something HEAVY, go check out some Nile. Also I've just downloaded Origin - Portal. That is a very heavy song!
